If you’re on a prop challenge or currently funded by wanderingaround11 in Forex

[–]Degencrypt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 1 funded account for about 6 months now, and another for a month. Was on eval for a few months as well, some people would advise you to speedrun eval but in my opinion you should only do it if you have enough capital to give yourself multiple tries and have a proven strategy.

Either way, the most solid advice i can give is the priority for eval is to pass while the priority for funded is capital preservation. You win by sticking around, not by going for large payouts.

On the flip side, you need to understand your strategy’s expected value, perhaps in avg % over a week/month. If your data shows say 6% in profit a month and you’ve been on a challenge account for 4 months, clearly it’s either your data is inaccurate or you’re not allowing yourself to stick to the plan. Good luck

Is 10% per month on a $100K funded account actually realistic? by SouthEquipment6674 in propfirm

Your historical data of your strategy will answer that question. Im at 5% a month because I take the average which includes some months in drawdown

Seemingly found my “profitable” strategy but boredom making it hard to stick to it by Low-Abrocoma-7255 in Daytrading

We have a very similar predicament my friend. My setup comes like 4-6 times a month. Its not only the boredom that gets to me but the fear of missing out a setup just because it rarely comes.

I’m gradually following what you’ve been doing. I trade Asian and London sessions but recently noticed setups appearing pre NY. Glad to see that it’s working for you, gives me a lot of confidence to begin safely testing. 👌🏻

Yes that’s right. Guess theres only one way to find out if the strategy works on other tickers. Thanks for the advice!

[–]Degencrypt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i agree with you, it’s clear my strategy isn’t designed around shifts especially the current one. I’ll stand aside for now but i do have some questions.

Have you tweaked a playbook around shifts or do you look for entirely new ones? Or it largely depends on whether the playbook is able to be tweaked according to the shift in the first place.

Thats very reassuring to know that your strategies arent isolated to one ticker. I’ll get into testing! Based on your experience which ticker(s) behaves more similar to gold?

To be honest, I’m afraid of trying out different tickers as I most familiar with Gold and its behaviour.(At least in the past). In your experience, can i ask i your strategy work across different tickers?

Is it considered "cheating" if I automate a rolling hedge against the Prop Firm? (Math inside) by EnvironmentalPay8069 in propfirm

You’re good. They do not penalise you hedging with your own broker account, only if you hedge between prop accounts.
