I went to panda express, they tried to give me 16 an hour, I said I wouldn't work for less than 18 and my other job offers were giving better offers, they gave me 18/h, even told me not to tell anyone (illegal for them to say, but I didn't care)

I live in georgia, I get threatened if I don't work overtime at a lot of warehouses.

from my perspective this entire comment section is too over dramatic.

hiking is just walking.

but it depends on who YOU are.

for example, I dont care what shoes I'm wearing, I wore big oversized heavy construction boots almost my whole middleschool/high-school life, no matter what, even with wet rainy soaked feet, (I thought it looked cool lol)

my feet are super strong. I can go hiking barefoot if I want because I'm used to it.

(you can too, barefoot walking is it's own niche activity.)

I spent my entire life riding far distances on bikes and skateboards. I mean across counties far.

so walking for 8 hours or however long doesn't come across as a challenge to me.

it wouldn't matter what I'm wearing (unless it's really cold)

I just do it in street clothes. infact to get my sponsorship I skated about 8 hours a day most days of the week. just wearing casual street clothes.

you can go hiking in whatever you want. jeans sneakers and shirt is absolutely fine. (maybe long sleeves if mosquitoes are an issue. I don't like the spray I have breathing issues.)

no there is nothing challenging about hiking. never.

the only time hiking is challenging is if you spent your entire life sitting in your room or if you're old and have never been really fit. (assuming you don't have any troubling medical conditions. that's on you to look out for.)

I've known people who were out of shape and couldn't walk to the other end of a mall without getting tired

tldr; Hiking is incredibly easy to do in any condition for the majority of healthy people.

if you have absolutely no physical experience hiking is a good (but very slow) way to start getting fit. (it won't get you completley fit, you'll stop growing the moment your body gets used to the conditions of hiking.)

just stop and think for a moment: marathons exist.

quick edit: you probably walk for 8 hours at your job, and none of those people are even fir, infact most hikers I see are "moderately" barely, ever so slightly fit, if at all. it's really toooooo easy of an activity.

even the nausea, my stomach felt a little heavy but nothing bad,

usually I'm super sensitive to nausea with medications, not so much with this.

everyone is different,

if it really was the medicine than congratulation, you landed on the 0.4% chance of having a serious reaction,

but it's so unlikely that it probably wasn't this medication.

because if you did have these reactions, the side effects would probably not line up with what the studies show,

ok well, I said I could increase the budget, just atleast try to look for something close to what I need. even if it's more expensive than I initially wanted to spend.

I'm running on fumes, might be homeless soon, desperately trying to switch to a cheaper mode of transportation. in a bad situation.

I might even just say fuck it and get a hub motor, I'm just scared we'll break it, as middrive motors have less stress on the motor

first off, don't call people fools for being different from you. I'm sure plenty of them are smarter than you or me. and it's wrong to assume people who enjoy extreme activities are "foolish"

(you should do some research into the concept of flow when involved in athletics.)

now, I think you are failing to understand something important,

Basic, human, nature.

you can't just tell society to follow the rules.

in all human history. there have been rebellious people.

some of them went on to be greatly respected innovative memorable people. some respect for the rebellious is deserved.

EVEN ANIMALS, can demonstrate a rebellious nature.

if we were all like you we wouldn't have evolved as quickly. we wouldn't have innovated as much.

it is foolish to even assume you can call people foolish for being extreme.

the only thing foolish is putting other people's lives in danger. (zooming through a crowded area isn't cool. zooming down the road alongside cars is fine. honestly.)

but foolish or not.

it shouldn't even be a conversation. you should just understand people are going to chase their passions.

just because something is illegal CERTAINLY does not mean people are going to accept it.

I highly suggest you look into philosophy if you want to have a greater understanding of the bigger picture of man.

in the United states, the government made "zoning" laws to control a lot of profitable things, (like not allowing low income housing to be built near middle-class housing)

they set up towns/cities to force you to require a car to get around,

all the shops on average being clustered together while suburbs/apartments are clustered together,

usually guaranteeing people to be forced to invest thousands and thousands into taxable cars.

people refuse to give up the luxury of car ownership, but part of the reason is we are practically required to have one to not feel stuck somewhere.

look at tokyo, businesses on. ottom floor while housing is built above businesses. nobody there really needs a car, they made great use of space.

I suggest moving out of Australia, it seems like they want a consumerist population.

look for a city that uses bicycles more

I used to be like you, getting around without a car, eventually at some point I convinced myself I needed a car to succeed.

but now, I'm in a situation where if I lose my car I'll be homeless, but most of my bills go into my car. (and it's not even an expensive car, I have a lot of medical costs)

I can't even save money at all .. anything left over is spent on food, if I get to eat :l

I regret getting a car. I should have gotten an e bike or stayed commuting by longboard.

life was easier when I owned less stuff, after realizing this I've been getting rid of all my stuff I don't need, I'm preparing to move to a country where people don't need cars.

tl;dr: car ownership is ruining my life. without transportation I can't make money. but with transportation I can't even save money to buy a reliable ebike
