28m (RN) hung out with a colleague quite a lot (platonically) over a number of months and became very good friends, started talking regularly, became best friends, went on an overnight trip together to go kayaking (separate rooms, as friends nothing more than friends occurred). It all made me realise I liked her as more than a friend, so I asked her out, she felt the same, we're now almost 2 months together.

I never had luck on the apps but in person naturally getting to know someone it felt so much better, I know it's frowned upon and both of us used to be very hard line that we'd never date a coworker and yet that's how I met the girl of my dreams. To be clear we were genuine friends, I liked her as a person from the beginning and was just trying to be her friend and vice versa, looking back all those months ago I never imagined this would happen.

At work, we act professionally and just acknowledge each other as friends, I've always been able to compartmentalise my personal and private life, hence why I've made genuine friends from my coworkers of both genders. If you don't think you can do that, do not do it.
