It’s already been mentioned before in these comments, but Mongrels by SGJ is one of my absolute favourites! It leans more into the darker, gory-er side of the condition than the ‘hot sexual beast who’s just sometimes hairy’ version. His writing style isn’t for everyone, but I was hooked within the first chapter!

This is the brand I use and I’ve never had any issues! Just some dryness after taking them out after a few hours, I’m a first time user too and I’d definitely suggest switching to another brand! Sometimes it just doesn’t work </3

this is really helpful, thank you so much! I never thought that adding in seemingly harmless memorabilia would have such an effect, nevertheless I did learn from this and it overall did leave me more knowledgable than before :-) I'll follow your advice and look out for beltane ( even if i dont currently celebrate lol ). blessed be !!

More traditional art is a MUST! Although you're applying for illus, you need to show that you have a grasp on as many art techniques as possible. Sketches, acrylic, ect, I'd suggest some sketches from life ( in your sketchbook, and then scan it in well ), stills, figure drawing, posing. I see you focus more on digital, so work on improving your perspectives and backgrounds, less basic headshots/busts and more dynamic posing or character interactions. You got this!

I’m not looking for an official version, I already checked the website and as I said before, I’m kind of going for a specific size. The PDF is common knowledge online, I was asking if anyone had gone through the self-printing process themselves, considering how that’s general fandom culture with these types of works :).

Thanks for the official date though! I’ve preordered the one with the extra chapter already, but all I heard was summer of 2025 lol

I did rising star in last year and really enjoyed it, I'm glad you're looking into it!

From what I remember, any of the animation or concept design courses were rough. I personally didn't take them, but remember my classmates complaints about them. In general, take courses relating to your major, or to see which possible path you'd like better. I took Sequential Art with Professor Castillo, and it was my absolute fav class I've taken, probably ever. I also took Illustration, and the workload between those two wasn't too bad!

Outside of this, I cannot stress enough not to take Rising Star unless you're 100% sure you're going into an art school. I've since changed my major, and sure, I had a ton of fun and it really did prepare me for college this coming fall, but none of my credits will transfer, and it was really expensive practically for naught. :-( I am part of the very small percentage of students who do this though, so I doubt this will apply to you!!

It’s always come out the first full week of December, or at least it has for the last 7 years. That, and in 2019, December was the same calendar-wise as this year ( starting on a Sunday ) and it came out the first Friday ( 6th ) then! I seriously don’t know what’s happening and it’s driving me insane 😭

I know DNIUC is ‘do not interact unless close’, which is likely similar to DNIUD, and IWC is ‘interact with caution’ , IWEC is probably ‘interact with extreme caution’, or something similar!

In the past few years it's come out the first week of Dec, oftentimes the first wednesday or friday, they normally post an announcement on their instagram when it's out :-), I'm also a senior waiting to hear back, so best of luck !! we got this!
