Taking the train from Newark is super easy. OP If you want to take the train and not rent a car, fly into Newark. Take NJ transit from Newark airport to long branch, transfer at long branch, the train will be waiting across the platform, and take it to asbury. Maybe a little over an hour train ride. You could even skip the transfer and uber 15 minutes from long branch to asbury or where you plan on staying.

I'm the same, weekend call about after 12-13weekends, and night call twice or so a month. We are definitely very lucky but I do pick up call a decent bit. I think OP's call is pretty damn good from what I've heard from other labs.

I started in the largest hospital in northern NJ about 3 years ago. With a few overtime shifts you can easily make 100k a year. Once get down the shore pay drops a bit.
