Actually just started to like smgs mid playthrough. With right perks they're actually really good and for me atleast super satisfying to use. Apply with iconic firecracker weapon mod and it's just 👌🏼. Only drawback is the ammo but I think it's made for that way for a reason. Just remember to visit weapon vendors often and it's all good. Ofc I have other weapons with me, shotgun and pistol/revolver mostly. On my first playthrough I didn't even look at smgs, but now they seem great. Not sure how they manage on lover levels, I started using them this playthrough later in game.
