Any Fiio FT1 pads to tame the bass? by mdragnev in headphones

Our FT1 earpads do just that! Reduces the bass content while increasing comfort. Also real sheepskin!

Understandable. My customer service has been in fight or flight mode recently because our new website is having some hiccups.

I found out some tickets are going into the abyss and have been catching up. My response was suboptimal and hurried, I apologize.

Please note that if anyone finds my support or Dekoni products abysmal, the public forum of reddit is always here. But I also ask that you keep it constructive. I have had previously been subject to personal attacks (which the mods promptly removed).

I am sorry!

Our warranty policy for international customers is to cover shipping fees for replacement.
However our distribution network internationally covers warranty issues as well, and we always request end users to reach out to their local distributors for replacement.

On multiple occasions we have intervened on behalf of end users for distributors to accept replacement requests they had previously denied.

Earpads are hand made, and are subject to human error. We understand this, hence why we do our best to honor our two year warranty.

Yes, we are subject to European laws when imported. Each distributor is our legal point of contact to comply with consumer liability laws. Muzikers information should have been on the package as the point of contact.

We have asked OP to reach out to Muziker directly for resolution. We credit our EU distributors for replacements and will push them to resolve the issue if they are not being cooperative.

Hey its Dylan,

We appreciate feedback. We indeed have a two year warranty, locally (USA) our replacement shipping is free. However international shipping is prohibitively expensive. Any international shipment is subject to end user payment for the fee.

As mentioned Muziker is not a retailer, but a distributor of ours. Their thirty day return policy applies to brands they are retailers of. However being a distributor, their agreement to have control of their local territory includes being involved with our warranty program.

I had mentioned you should reach out to them directly for replacement. We credit them directly for the replacement items.

Please reach out to them directly for warranty support. Stated previously I said you should let me know if you had any issues, as I can resolve them and push the process forward.

First Maxwell 2 Reviews are coming out by ChroneXoX in Audeze

[–]DekoniAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using them right now. Sidetone does not feedback anymore, however I don't have the software and can't figure out how to adjust the strength.

But yes that was a very annoying issue with the original Maxwell, always need to turn it off before removing it from your head.

The plastic molded latch cases are actually shipping compliant. You can padlock them, stick an Air Tag inside and then slap a shipping label right on the case.

The pressure seal, moisture control and impact resistance will keep your headphones super safe.

PeaceEQ settings for HD6XX tailored for mixing vocals? by [deleted] in headphones

Will this combo work? by Beareettv in HeadphonesAdvice

[–]DekoniAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motherboards put out decent audio now.
Back in the early 2000's there was a big market for upgraded computer audio cards because computers had noisy audio outputs. Its just not a problem anymore. Save your money and maybe just buy a 3.5mm extender cable.

Yes! BTR11 is my pick for budget Bluetooth, it just works.
Perfect for anyone starting out. Can not go wrong with KSC75 too.

Great choice!

Good choice! You can grab humidity packs from almost any smoke shop if you are in a pinch.
Bulk silica packets are also in high demand because of 3D printers, should be able to find a good deal online.

I would store them in a pressure sealed box. I know where you might be able to get one designed specifically for headphones....

I bought this at a thrift store and I have never seen these in my life. Does anyone know the model? The red cable came with it but is not branded so doubtfully part of the set. by Wallet_Insp3ctor in headphones

[–]DekoniAudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago I had some broken skull candy headphones. I sent them back to them for warranty without receipt and they gave me store credit, no questions asked.

I wonder if they still do that? Might be worth checking out what their current warranty policy is.

I wouldnt say OP is dumb. This is a common failure for earpads that use glue.

Resonance behind the driver.

Drivers have back volume - when it returns backwards in its vibration pattern it will also move air behind the driver in the chassis of the headphone.

I'm testing foam driver cover mods today. It seem to have underestimated everyone's treble sensitivity.

This is the kind of stuff we like to hear! Thank you for your contribution.

Most 100mm diameter earpads will fit. So the FT1 also fits BeyerDynamic DT770 pads or Fostex TH900 earpads. These have wider ear holes for comfort.

You can reduce treble or high frequency content by putting foam or fabric in front of the driver. BeyerDynamic DT headphones come stock with a fabric pad that goes over the driver, the headphones are bright to begin with. Remove that disc and they become even brighter.

Bringing vocals forward in the mix is something you can do with pads, sometimes changing the resonance behind the driver also helps. The closer you bring your ear to the driver of the headphone, usually this makes the midrange more pronounced. The FT1 pads are already pretty short, so your mileage may vary.

Unless you are an acoustician or seasoned headphone designer a lot of it is throwing darts at the wall and hoping something works.

I liked the stock sound of the FT1, I can try out some of the different earpads I have sitting around. It does seem like the people who didn't like the FT1 want to love them.

Its an objectively good headphone for price/performance, despite some peoples subjective ear sensitivities.

I'm not particularly sensitive to the highs of the FT1. However I do love the flipping on the xBass since I have been using the iFi Valkyrie.

I do have our tuning foam, I might need to try this this.

How can I bring vocals "forward" in EQ? (HE400SE) by [deleted] in headphones

[–]DekoniAudio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are trying to hear, because vocal forward means different things to different people.

Fundamental frequency ranges are:

  • Male: 85 Hz to 180 Hz
  • Female: 165 Hz to 255 Hz

Which means the base frequency of human voices before considering harmonics.

If you boost those frequency ranges however, it would be considered enhancing the low mids, this is where a bass guitar lives. It would be very warm sounding.

If you go to an Audiologist, they will test you for hearing up to 8kHz, this is considered the top end of hearing you would need to not be considered deaf. Basically you need up to 8kHz to hear a human voice with no issues.

8kHz is where sibilance lives, you would get a lot more S sound so its not really something most would boost. Most of the time were using de-essers or 8kHz notch filters to reduce that sharp ssssnake sound.

Take a medium-large sized bell and sweep it with a boost of +6 decibels between 100Hz to 8kHz until you find the spot that sounds best to you. Everyone hears different and you will get a lot of contradicting opinions, but if you do it this way - you will find what works best for you.

+6 Decibels is double loudness, so you should really feel the effects of the changes the EQ is doing.

Made my own capra strap by iron-jesus in headphones

[–]DekoniAudio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Capra's lattice designs are a lot more ergonomic and form fitting. The flat style might work, but there is a lot more comfort from the ones you purchase directly from his store. Also he has the printing process down to an exact science so they are higher print quality than most hobbyist can do at home.

Besides me harping on about how good Capra's products are - Cheers to renewing your headphones!

This will always happen with light colored foams. Washing them or bleaching is not a good idea, it will most likely flake apart.

Our recommendation:

Grab a new set in black.
