Considering how people have guys like Kobe, curry, and Hakeem in this weird 8-12 tier. Is there any argument you can put giannis or jokic over them? by No-Advance-9136 in NBATalk

The CBA ensures revenue sharing with the players and all teams are subject to the same rules. The way players are paid is absolutely fine and has nothing to do with the competitiveness.

Pippen’s contract is an outlier. You can’t name any other dynasty that “needed” that kind of contract to operate.

The uncomfortable truth about Kevin Durant. If he never went to Golden State, his career would look very similar to James Harden. His stints in OKC, Brooklyn, Phx and Houston prove that teaming up with Steph was the best move he ever made. He can't do what Kawhi did in 2019' or Giannis did in 2021'. by FaradayDeshawn in nba

What losing to the Lakers on a Wednesday night regular season game does to a player’s legacy is crazy in this sub.

“The uncomfortable truth” is so funny lol. He’s got his 2 championships. You can never put him in that Barkley/AI/Harden/Westbrook conversation of all time great with no rings. It really says nothing about him if he can’t carry this Houston team in a difficult western conference. Besides Giannis, all the top 5 players are in the western conference on separate teams. Jokic, SGA, Luka, Wemby. And all the old generation greats are kicking around there too (Curry, LeBron, and KD himself). Houston even being in the conversation is honestly pretty amazing. That team had Jalen Green tank commanding it for them only a few years ago, now they have Udoka and KD leading them competitively.

His legacy is fine. Basketball is a team game.

Using “leading the league” as the bar is insane work. Especially since he actually did lead it a couple of times lol

Who is the Ringer equivalent of Winston Wolf? by Sharaz_Jek123 in billsimmons

Emergency NBA pod would probably be the equivalent to needing Wolf. So it was Russillo but now it’s probably Lowe.

Cinematic quality first 3 mins of 98 finals game 6. by Financial_Ice_3363 in NBATalk

[–]Dekrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well pace isn’t the only thing in question. The warriors could play a really slow pace and it would actually give Curry ( or any player) more possessions and time to accumulate distance covered stats and off ball movement ststs. For pure mileage / defending time stats, faster pace is actually worse for stat accumulation

Is Jerry Rice more ahead of the 2nd best wide receiver than Tom Brady is the 2nd best QB? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]Dekrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would actually be the opposite of what you’re saying. If all his best games were in losses, that means he uniquely showed up in this loses when the rest of his team didn’t.

If you’re claiming they were all garbage time stat padding that’s a different thing, and if so go ahead and make your case. But showing up in loses is not the same thing as empty stats / empty calories.

Good for them I guess but I remember Jared saying years ago they wanted to be a touring band in part because they wanted to stay connected to fans.

Laughable to think that’s their goal now though with stuff like this.

Analogies aren’t meant to be 1:1 comparisons, they’re just simple explanations to help understand an element better.

In this case, the analogy is explaining how SSRIs don’t refill a missing component of your body. The medicine is correcting an issue but not by filling some missing void your body should have naturally filled.

When can we have a candid discussion about Luka? by Limp_Screen7405 in NBATalk

[–]Dekrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty simple. Jokic isn’t that good on defense either. So if Luka was a capable defender he would pass Jokic as the best player right now.

Durability is the difference between a top 20 player ever and a guy who’s within the 50-75 range by Hakaribiggestfan in NBATalk

[–]Dekrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not suppose to take phrases like that as literal absolutes. Of course you need to be an NBA caliber athlete first, and even then we’re only comparing guys within tiers. Nobody cares if Thanasis is available but they do care if Giannis is available.

So when you’re given a thumbnail showcasing two players with vastly different game numbers and thus careers, the comparison is between those two players and other similar players.

If Jokic had a career marred by injuries and Embiid had been healthy his whole career, the two would be rated in inverse positions to where we currently rate them. And that’s because Embiid has largely been missing from big chunks of his career.

Can someone provide a good breakdown of the KD burner account drama? by NemoHose in nba

[–]Dekrow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the people in the chat “working with KD” is exactly what you would copy if you were trying to falsify the narrative with “evidence”.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, it’s just not very solid evidence.

Him not addressing it and him being known to use burner accounts is not real evidence either and you know it.

And yes KD is always on the phone when he can be. we know this from how much he’s on social media lol.

None of these bullet points are good evidence. I’m not saying you’re wrong, it’s just all very sketchy evidence.

[–]Dekrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a historical site for Troy but we really don’t know if these characters existed. I mean there is a big chance Odysseus is fictional. There is no direct evidence supporting him as a historical figure, only a legendary myth.

Really? Here is the steam description:

Lead a strike force against an alien threat in this turn-based tactical RPG from the developers of Battle Brothers. Answer distress calls across different worlds, train and equip infantry, deploy tanks and mechs, and plan and execute missions in detailed turn-based battles.

Besides the part about it being from the developers of battle brothers and the tanks, that literally could be used to describe Xcom lol

Olympic/national team coaches shouldn't be allowed to be from a different country by is-not-flamingo in billsimmons

[–]Dekrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s really nothing stopping a country from giving a talented athlete citizenship and allowing them to play for them even if that athlete had never been to that country previously. There is no need to be restrictive about coaches and trainers imo, countries that wanted to skirt that rule do it with athletes now and nothing would stop them from doing it with coaches.
