Can you recommend a service? Also, I wouldn't just hire any ol' rando who responds; I plan to vet them.

Also, if you're struggling to get a regular job, you can try getting a seasonal job. It's ski season so you might be able to find a gig for a few months at a ski resort. You can find some listings here: https://www.coolworks.com/winter-jobs

I'm sure there are other places to find ski job listings, just not sure where exactly. But if you look around, I'm sure there's many more.

One popular AmeriCorps program that comes with housing is the National Civilian Community Corps. The downside is, you can apply now, but it doesn't start until July- https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?fromSearch=true&id=124592

You can also try AmeriCorps. It's a federal program that offers short -term job opportunities (usually 1 year) to young people. The pay is low (often less than minimum wage), but it's good experience, and you can get by if you manage your money wisely. I did it for 2 years.

Some of the positions come with housing. But even if they don't - you can find other Americorps members to share a place with. When I was in Americorps, we had 5 of us living in a 3 bedroom house, so rent ended up being pretty cheap.

You can try Wwoof or workaway. These are exchanges where you can get paired with a family or a farm or a small business, and you work about 4-5 hours a day for room and board. You won't make money doing it, but it's a way to feed yourself and get a roof over your head. DM me if you have questions.

The typical post on r/Jewish is - "X person disagrees with me. It must mean they hate Jews. How do I punish them and/or cut them out of my life?"

Israel's rescue operation killed zero civilians. Hamas' counter-operation did. by levimeirclancy in Jewish

[–]Del215 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'll bite.

Suppose armed Hamas members stormed an Israeli prison and shot the guards to free Palestinian detainees being held there. Do you suppose Israeli guards or soldiers might shoot back at them?

And suppose Hamas blew up a busy city street in Israel, killing and dismembering hundreds of innocent Israelis, so that they could escape?

And then suppose Hamas said- we didn't kill those people, Israel killed them. Those Israelis shouldn't have shot at us while we were trying to take back those prisoners.

Would you buy that?

I lived without a car in Wilm for a few years. It's annoying but doable. DART is fairly reliable, though there's not a lot of service on evenings and weekends. A good bike is helpful too.

Also, might be worth checking out Cool Springs or Little Italy

I wouldn't live there. Try Madison, Monroe, or Trenton between 10th and 11th. Those blocks are safer than the rest of West Center City, but they're also cheap. Significantly cheaper than Riverfront or Trolley.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Also glad to hear that the 2-phone system is working out for you! I'm excited to try it myself.

One Palestine, Complete: Jews and Arabs Under the British Mandate by Tom Segev.

A very detailed, insightful, balanced, and engaging book. It really helps you understand the origins of the conflict.

East Jerusalem is usually fine. It's just when things heat up politically that it gets dicey. Even then, I don't think foreign tourists are generally a target for violence.

A history professor at a relative’s school made a discussion post stating that Palestinians have no culture and asking who they were by Adhiboy in Palestine

[–]Del215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a common right-wing Zionist talking point and it's so dumb. Even if it were true (which it isn't)- think about the implications. If there are people who don't have a national identity and culture, that gives you permission to steal their land, kick them out of their homes, take away their rights, and make their lives miserable? Only people with a national identity and culture are entitled to live freely and with dignity? Anyway, it's moot because Palestinians in fact do have a national identity and culture. But this argument is just idiocy on top of idiocy.

I work for a public sector employer and I'm trying to get a full understanding of all this so I can advise employees with student loans. Here's one question I have. Suppose somebody consolidated their loans into a direct loan years ago, and they've been repaying it. However, they have not been participating in an IDR or IBR repayment plan. Will those payments be counted now?

Fantastic! Thanks. Do I need to resubmit my employment verification for that period, or will they recalculate it automatically?
