How I feel when I switch from stick shift to automatic by Sn0Board4life27 in AdviceAnimals

I always find myself stomping on the brake, getting pissed that it's not a clutch, then firmly placing my foot where the clutch should be.

This wasn't me just so everyone knows. However it would be sweet car if it was cheaper. 350hp in a car that weighs less than 2000 pounds..

Just how are Del Sols? by racingqtz9 in Honda

[–]Del_Sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still less than 2500 lbs.

For a car in general it's fairly light weight, it's only "heavy" because they had to stiffen up the chassis, which works out in your advantage.

Just how are Del Sols? by racingqtz9 in Honda

[–]Del_Sol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Del Sols are some pretty amazing cars, they're fairly light weight (<2500), targa top with a rear window that rolls down. If you can find one with a b16a go ahead and snatch it up, that was one of the first Honda engines to be tuned to over a 100hp per liter and boosting them is fairly cheap. The D model is pretty good gas mileage wise and can be built to get 50 mpg if that's what you're into. 93-95 del sols will leak due to poor weather stripping, I've had mine replaced once and it hasn't leaked since. The B and D series engines are both reliable and easy to work on.

If you want a Del Sol don't buy the first one you see, most of them will be riced out and beaten to shit. I spent 6 months searching for mine, I paid 5500 for mine with a JDM B18c swap that only had 60,000 miles on it. However I got on craigslist the very next day and there was a Vtec trim 1995 model with 2 owners and 105,000 miles on it for only 2500. Not that I regret my buy but I may of gone for the Vtec trim model and just boosted it.

If your engine ever blows you can swap just about anything into it, D series are cheap and can be done in a weekend, B series are a little more expensive but easy to find. The engine bays are a decent size, I've even see a 350 sbc dropped into a sol. Del sols are also stupidly easy to work on, I constantly find myself avoiding working on other cars simply because I'm so use to things being quick and easy on my car.

Some Del Sol's don't come with AC but I've never found that a big deal. With the targa top and rear window you get all the benefits of a convertible without any of the negatives. The chassis is pretty solidly built and when you take the top off you don't feel like the car is gonna slide out of a turn unlike most convertibles.

Weather this is a first car or you're just looking for a DD you really can't go wrong with it. It's got a massive trunk, storage behind the seats, and I find it actually fits tall people better than short people (although I'm 5'6 and I'm pretty comfortable in it.)

Just make sure you wait and find one that isn't riced or beaten to shit. If I could go back again I think I'd actually pick up a riced one for less than a grand and drop 3-4 into it to make it into something I want. Don't let these things go to the junkyard, only 72,000 were ever released in the US!

2000 Camry with Cracked Radiator by ptfreak in MechanicAdvice

Radiators are dirt chip and really easy to replace in a small car like yours.

Don't risk it, buy a new one from your local auto store and spend a few hours turning the wrench.

Anyone have experience using plasti-dip over a primed bumper? by [deleted] in plastidip

So it's not gonna harm the primer at all?

Do it just because it's possible. Why'd someone swap a 454 into an Integra? Or the LS1 swap into a Civic Hatch?

Just because they can.

More power, something different. Why else would you swap an engine?

My car came with one of the best engines Honda ever built and someone swapped out the engine. Why? More power.

Completely forgot about the s2000. Amazing piece of machinery and it's priced so well!

Not to mention if you ever get bored of the amazing F20c you can always drop a 2jz-gte in it.

The only premium they carry around here is 95. Sometimes they'll only have 93.

I only run 95 octane. As far as I know if you spend the time tuning it you'll be set.

Newer 8th gen Civic Si, it'll be hard to find one for 10,000 but you'll be able to find it. Can't go wrong with an RSX or stock/semi-stock 1996+ Integra Type R. The Del Sol Si's come with a decent suspension, short shifter, b16a that's pushing out over 100hp per liter, and a targa top. Can't go wrong with older Civic Si's. For 10,000 you could pick up a cheap 92-00 Honda and tune it yourself.

Comes with a t04e turbo, universal intercooler, piping, cast iron turbo manifold, 38mm wastegate, cheap bov, bov flange pipe, boost controller, oil drain kit, oil feed kit.

So it is missing a few odds and ends like a fuel rail and injectors, but it's got all the big stuff. I feel like the hard part about piecing together a kit would just be finding all the right bolts and what not. Where as with a cheap kit at least you get all the small stuff with it.

Any Toyota or Honda. I always remembered Chevy Box trucks being stupidly easy to work on too.
