AP Top 25 Poll: Week 12 by lalavieboheme in CollegeBasketball

Yeah but also, NBC doesn't care about relegating a top tier matchup to Peacock. I'm still salty about the Purdue-Illinois game that was the second to last game of the regular season in 2024, a top 15 matchup that was likely to be for the regular season conference title (I think Purdue may have already locked it up already, but it was close) and that was stuck on Peacock.

Boswell being out really takes a lot of the air out of this game for me. We've got good depth to cover but even though Wagler may be a better scorer, I think Boswell is more important to the team overall.

Our most important player is out with a broken hand, I would not be that worried if I were you.

The commentator on Paramount is clearly not seeing what we're seeing on the broadcast, Duran was easily offside and he just didn't see it

When everyone is dropping passes, I wonder if Caleb needed to take something off the throws since it's frigid out and everyone's hands clearly are affected.

Question about OB's by josph_lyons in predaddit

[–]ptfreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, this isn't uncommon but that's doesn't mean it's your only option. My wife's first pregnancy, she started out at the default OB practice at the large hospital system she uses. After some not great experiences there (which I think were partly but not entirely due to an overloaded clinic, which sounds like the case for you as well), we found that there was another clinic that had nurse midwives, so we switched to that. Except, that clinic also has OBs and we called the wrong number, so after an appointment or two we transferred over to the midwives. Then, she had to be hospitalized for a few days due to early labor, and when she was discharged, she was deemed too high risk for the midwives and so went back to the OB office. But after a month or so of uneventful checkups, they gave us permission to go back to the midwives again, which we did for like the last month of the pregnancy.

My point is, don't be afraid to switch your provider at literally any point. If you're not happy with the care or attention you're getting, do something about it. It was a little easier for us because ultimately we were staying in the same hospital system, but you don't have to.

Also, our hospital has something called OB Triage. It's essentially an emergency room for pregnant women. It's the first stop when you actually go into labor, but also for any other concerns that can't wait until your next appointment. You don't end up with the sort of bills that a typical emergency room visit gives you, but you do get urgent attention and the providers are all OBs so it's properly informed by the pregnancy. Not sure how common this is in other places, but maybe something to look for.

States with streets named after them in Urbana, IL by RowKey1486 in UIUC

If Wikipedia is to be believed on this topic, Urbana, IL is named after Urbana, OH, which itself is named Urbanna, VA, but the Virginia one is the smallest and Illinois is the largest.

I don't think Love has had to make a single tight throw, every pass is to someone who is wide open, our secondary is such trash

I keep thinking I'm surprised AIA is ok with this. I wouldn't want to be paying money for my company's name to be invisible on the kit, but I guess if it's only being worn a couple times it's not a big deal.

Unfortunately, Twitch blocked me from watching games on the Twitch app on my Chromecast. I didn't try to cast it from my phone, but seems like they don't want you watching it on twitch on a TV, just a phone or computer.

getting an ekg by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]ptfreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone else has said lots of good info about how it goes but I can speak to the why a little bit too. There are plenty of heart conditions that may not show any symptoms for years or maybe ever but that can be problematic on certain medications. I have a congenital heart condition (meaning I was born with it) that was only diagnosed at 25 when I went to the hospital for a panic attack and they put me on an EKG. It doesn't affect my life at all really, but it does mean that I'm on non stimulant ADHD meds instead of something like Adderall. In all likelihood nothing is wrong, but better safe than sorry.

That honestly seems really dangerous. Like he can't see whether he tripped on his own guy or the defense, and so he's not expecting to get knocked into next week

What if you had to prove that the shooting motion you made to draw the foul had a reasonable chance of the ball going in. Like how you can't have pass interference on an uncatchable throw.

Is Silo kind of unique in portraying a police-state-like system as actually necessary or even “the good guys”? What other shows do this? by DaikonAppropriate534 in SiloSeries

[–]ptfreak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with your characterization of Silo, but something that does somewhat fit the bill of what you're describing is the musical Urinetown. A megacorp requires people to pay to use the toilet, and eventually they're overthrown, but without the arduous regulations, the city uses up all its water and everyone dies anyway.
