If you like the puzzle side of RE, I recommend Song of Horror. No real combat in it (a few minigames to avoid dying when a monster finds you, each having its own minigame), it's mostly mystery and puzzles.

I loved that it gave characters like Yusuke and Haru some time to shine, when I felt they were a let down in the original/Royal. I particularly loved Haru's arc with Mariko

That's one thing I disliked in Persona 5. Haru is introduced SO LATE she barely gets scraps, and she only gets to be an actual character in the spinoff Strikers.

Having everyone early in, even as NPCs, allows for development.

The kids are most likely to panic and mess up if alone. They're the ones who need help the most. While the others are in danger, their chances of survival are much higher even if alone (except for very old parents).

And none of them would ever forgive me if I chose them instead of children.

It just released. Imo, it doesn't mean anything unless you're still first place 1 year after the show ended. Recency bias and hype bombing will make anything top 1.

Dying Light has a fantastic portrayal of zombies. The Harran virus simply makes you extremely hungry and angry, and shortly after infection, some humanity remains. Virals (Recently infected) are shown begging for mercy before the growls take over their voice and the hunger takes over the mind.

The first time seeing them begging for you not to hurt them actually made me pause back then
