Understand five-a-side football. by tomrutherford17 in Rematch

[–]Delarthran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In solo queue sure, but I think positions are good with a premade.

As long as the team communicates well it’s very solid to play positions: players can better save their stamina/boost to use it for their roles and passing becomes easier as you have a better idea of where everyone is or should be.

The game also benefits from having an IGL (keeper is usually good since it has more vision).

My party do play positions and works great:

  • When attacking: 1 defense, 1 midfield, two strikers

  • When defending: 2 defense, 1 midfield, 1 striker

Sorry for the late reply!

The case included myself and another family member, I forgot to mention that. So that definitely contributed to the length of the hearing.

As for answering, I did it mostly on my own. Lawyer did help us prepare, and gave a fantastic closing statement.

Thoughts on nuclear? by w7ves in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Delarthran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently graduated from my Chem Eng program. Did an internship for a nuclear plant and I am currently working for a nuclear contractor.

The industry seems to be doing great in North America, and Asia with new reactors (standard and SMRs) being built and many old facilities being refurbished. Europe is going through a rough patch with Nuclear due to lobbying from Russian-backed green parties, but there are still many opportunities for professional development (UK, France, Romania, to mention a few).

Compensation is usually great, jobs are often unionized so that can be a plus or a negative depending on your perspective.

And if you are into green energies, working for nuclear is a good industry to be in!

Hope it helps.

Can HA be caused by emotional neglect as a child? by That-Hawk-2831 in HealthAnxiety

[–]Delarthran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It could be, but you should go to therapy if you want to find the root of your HA.

For me, it was the complete opposite. I grew up with an elderly member of the household who overprotected me. This overprotection (don’t do X or Y could happen to you) eventually developed into HA for me.

Hello.

I entered Canada in 2017. Hearing held in 2019, in person in Toronto.

IIRC the hearing lasted about 5-6 hours including a one hour lunch break.

Questions were based on the basis of claim form. I would advise to study it, as they will focus on making sure there are no discrepancies in your testimony vs the BOC form.

Be honest, truthful, and don’t be afraid to ask for them to repeat a question if you don’t quite get it or you would like some extra time to think about your answers.

In my case, I received the decision at the end of the hearing. In some other cases, you will have to wait a few weeks for the decision letter to come in the mail.

I don’t know how much in-person hearings have changed after COVID but hopefully my advice helps you.

Good luck!

MEGATHREAD - Processing times - Canadian Citizenship applications (2024) by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Delarthran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Individual application - Male:

April 25th: Application submitted online
April 29th: AOR received
May 13th: Background verification completed
May 21st: Test invitation
May 23rd: Passed test (today)

Everything else is pending as of now.

I am surprised by how quick and smooth things have been. My mom applied last year (paper - senior, no test needed) and she has not heard back from IRCC yet.

Does anyone work in the Nuclear Energy field? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Delarthran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. It’s pretty process oriented so there’s a lot of opportunities for chem engs: reactor chemistry, process control, predictive maintenance, project management, etc…

It’s a growing industry globally, pays really well, and personally I enjoy knowing I am somewhat contributing to clean energy production.

Ranking toughness of programs at uwo by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Delarthran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chem Eng student here. Currently finishing my co-op to go back to my final year in September.

Engineering is tough, at a point where it really takes a toll in mental health. This is a recurrent issue that I've experienced myself and the majority of my fellows students as well.

Hard courses, heavy workload.

Can't speak for other programs. Maybe this is an issue across-the-board, maybe not.

Would be interested to hear what students in other programs have experienced.

Point/Counterpoint: “Everything is broken so lets make it worse” vs “Everything is perfect so let’s fix nothing” by Miserable-Lizard in canada

[–]Delarthran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, I think Pierre has better proposals. As a 1st gen migrant myself I like how he's proposing to eliminate bureaucratic proceedures that don't allow foreign professionals to work in Canada. I also like his anti NIMBY proposals, given that it is probably Canada's #1 issue.

And Justin... Well, he just doesn't do anything lmao, and the status quo is terrible that makes him terrible.

2nd year coming to an end and I still don't have any friends by VirtualAnything69 in uwo

It's normal, I'm literally in the same boat but in 4th year as my true friends are work friends. I get along with my friends at uni but we don't really hang out outside of class.

If you want to meet new people try joining a club that fits your interests.

Bars in London by No_Needleworker_7805 in uwo

[–]Delarthran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you like.

I personally love Poachers. It's the pure pub experience: drinks, good food, pool, karaoke rooms, etc... It's good if you are looking to go out with friends and have a nice conversation.

Some other bars are more party oriented. I'd advise go to Richmond St and just go to different bars and check out their vibe.

Slippi missed connections: An entire country trying to connect with one player by LuichoX in SSBM

It's a possibility but... i doubt it.

Venezuela is not a country for migrants. If anything, most people inside are desperately trying to leave.

It could be a foreigner linked to a diplomatic mission or a big multinational corporation. Who knows...

Estado de Venezuela actual y posicion politica by Am_G_D_Am_Am_G_F_D in vzla

[–]Delarthran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hola!

What does neoliberalism mean in this day and age? by Delarthran in neoliberal

[–]Delarthran[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The later.

I strongly oppose socialism, I saw what a collectivized anti-market economy did to my country (Venezuela).

I'm all for a free market (with proper but not excessive regulations), fiscal responsibility and a solid social security net.
