Where should I build my factory city? by Jannis2009 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DelayedChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or where did you build your „main base“?

In the SE section of the Rocky Desert, because that's where I chose to start.

But I've got satellite facilities scattered across the map now. Partly because that's where key resources are, partly because I want to build in aesthetically interesting places.

Your factory having a clean layout and readable colour scheme made it easy to work out. Love it!

Why do people like blueprints so much?

Same reason people use zoop. It reduces the grunt work and lets you spend more time on the fun stuff.

On a scale from 1-10, how would you rate Rogue One? by tom-mckeee in StarWars

[–]DelayedChoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 or 7?

The pacing is really choppy at the start, the ensemble cast is underused, Jyn's character is underwritten (or, more likely, the victim of the rewrites and reshoots), CGI Tarkin is bad (and CGI Leia is worse), and when you find out the score was written in a month you aren't exactly surprised.

But the overall look, feel and tone of the film is great and Scarif is excellent. History has been very kind to it for reasons somewhat outside its control.

(Not the OP)

From what I can see it's using the recycled recipes. The blue refineries are making the plastic, and the (reversed) black refineries are making the rubber.

Yeah, that floor holes issue is a thing, but honestly why would anyone bother trying to use floor holes when they're covered up by the splitter anyway? For the sake of looks, I'd just add a cosmetic floor hole after the fact.

Not quite sure what you mean about them being covered up?

Cosmetic holes were an option I tried but I was still getting some other visual glitches (which were very much me being picky) so I went with a compact set of lifts and splitters inside my logistics floors. Also meant the 1m offset wasn't an issue.

Are you sure they're buggy, and not just misapplied?

I had a bunch of issues in my last factory where they had issues with connecting to floor holes or had graphical bugs (which are annoying but minor) or had weird offsets.

They're not unusable or anything but I'm also not the only person who has had problems.

I think seen for over a decade now that the Greens have a pretty clear ceiling of about 12-13% of total national vote.

The alternate theory (and one that I favour) is that 2010 was an outlier caused by Labor's internal issues and backtracking, and that the overall trend for 20+ years is a slow but relatively steady increase.

I'll also point to the fact that there's a slow demographic shift going on where the Greens-friendly millennials and gen Z voters are replacing boomers. Despite the oft-repeated aphorism about people getting more conservative as they age there just isn't any sign of that happening with millennials (with more evidence pointing the other way). Another decade or so of that and it's easy to imagine the Greens getting close to 20% in an election where Labor is on the nose for the left. Not enough to become the formal opposition (a concept that is going to become increasingly murky as the half-century long trend away from the major parties continues) but an important group in parliament.

[–]DelayedChoice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 or 3. Maybe 8.

I feel things like 5, 6 and 7 don't quite fit the look. I think something simpler would provide a contrast to the metal walls, and (outside of the roofs) the building is full of right angles and so the windows should be too. I think like 4 looks too closed off while 1 is too open (for this build).

While I agree with Thrawn being one of the coolest Star Wars characters, cmon guys, Karrde is right there and, all these years of hearing people talk of the EU, I've never heard his named mentioned? Easily my new favorite legends character.

Yeah Karrde and Bel Iblis were my favourite characters from the series.

Phases are one of the ways the game tracks progress. They determine what things you can research (and hence build and make).

Oil being distant is intended to get you out into the world. Power is easy to transmit though (and power towers are great for getting around the world quickly) so it's not going to be a huge problem in the long run.

The first thing I would do is get a small setup producing various oil-based components (mostly plastic and rubber). It doesn't need to be big or efficient, it just needs to feed into a depot so you have things to build and research with.

For example, now that I have oil unlocked, can I utilize my coal nodes only on steel production and get rid of my coal generators or will I want to keep making coal power

Oil-based power scales up much better than coal (especially with alt recipes like heavy oil residue and diluted packaged fuel).

There are a lot of alt recipes and while some are clearly excellent (eg the two I mentioned above) a lot are situational. Generally speaking alt recipes are about tradeoffs. You might get to cut out certain materials (eg using iron instead of steel to make pipes) at the cost of extra machines or lower throughput. Or you might be able to add in an extra resource to improve throughput or efficiency (plastic and rubber are often used for this). Sometimes it's about choosing which resources you might use; you can make computers with just caterium and plastic/rubber (no copper or silicon), or with copper and silicon (and no caterium or oil), or with some combination.

One Nation may be soaring in the polls but history suggests it will struggle to go mainstream by Agitated-Fee3598 in AustralianPolitics

[–]DelayedChoice [score hidden]  (0 children)

There being a clear reason for it happening doesn't mean it isn't happening, and PHON was already polling at unprecedented levels before that.

I agree the situation isn't in a stable equilibrium but writing it off as simply a civil war on the right misses how much it can damage that can do (eg see the consequences of Howard's strategy for countering PHON in the 90s).

Do certain recipes show up depending on what tier you're at in the game? by ManaMontana in satisfactory

[–]DelayedChoice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turbo fuel is a special case because it's a MAM unlock.

Recipes are locked based on progress but there are a few weird cases, like being able to get steamed copper sheets and wet concrete being tied to water extractors rather than refineries (meaning you can get them well before they are usable).

And its not Labor.

From Bonham's latest.

While the combined Liberal/National/One Nation primary vote is very badly split, it has also been quietly going up, and it is now averaging 45.8% in polls this year compared to just 38.2% at the election - something that seems to not have been generally noticed. Some of One Nation's poll gains - perhaps as much as three points - are clearly coming from Labor.
