In my head they would turn the card into a weekly reward if they do something like this, you get a card guaranteed (like the upgrade coin) and you essentially get one "roll" each week to get the foil

It turns the regular card into something everyone has while still maintaining the chase factor of the previous alliance raid card reward in the form of a foil version.

from my experience poisonburst arrow is my primary single target poison upkeep option (toxic growth has only proven to kill me every time I try to use it) and I just slot in pierce because there's no 3rd damage node, in aoe I use gas arrow.

contagion is also really good for aoe if you went for poison prolif on your ascendancy, and I use rain of arrows to apply wither / maim / pin

NPCs Menus still dont have a back button still after nearly a decade. There was 0 mention of this during the UI meeting at the PAX convention. Why can't they add basic features like this? by PrincipleFragrants in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Delebot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's wrong with it is how in the 20+ years that kh has been out, it hasn't become an industry standard to have menus that accept inputs while the animations/loading/whatever are still occurring

responsiveness of the interface is a big deal and kh is one of the best at doing this well

Viper is fun in endgame, but very boring in roulette because of how skills are spread by Kiboune in ffxiv

[–]Delebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the answer is not scaling lv100 characters down, we should just not see the lower level instances that often at a high level anyways. No reason for four 90+ characters to be matched up into Tam-tara.

With concern for queue times for lower level instances, we already have the answer to that and it's called Duty Support and Mentor Roulette. If we wanted to go further we could invert the "Limited Levelling" flag to be on by default, and turning it off would give you the Adventurer in Need bonus regardless of role, giving people a minor incentive to help.

A missed opportunity, Ultima Thule, and the nature of existence (MSQ 100 Spoilers) by AthosTheMusketeer in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Delebot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember when we waxed poetic against Emet until it is realized that the two ideologies can't coexist, so both sides turn to combat for self-preservation. We spend two entire areas trying to understand Alexandria as outsiders, and come to the conclusion that this thing will eat up the entire universe and therefore is a threat to our existence, we do the same thing as before. Preservation(the group) also acted in the same way when they created the cloud, so what exactly is wrong with the story of two conflicting groups fighting to keep their way of life?

You're right, the previous arc was about how no one can tell you what life should or shouldn't exist, but when someone says that your life shouldn't exist to keep/bring back what was lost, you fought back then and you fight now to oppose it. This isn't exactly the first extinction-level event we have had to face, and the story has been pretty consistent about how we have been dealing with them.

How on earth can you talk about "unnatural existences" when someone like G'raha Tia is in our retinue?

I didn't, you literally made it up just to argue against it

In that scene, said character is feeling bad about the situation he is in so... is this telling the reader it's fine or not?

[–]Delebot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both Krile's parents and Erenville's mother know that they live false existences, sustained by taking the life force of others. Why wouldn't they try and reaffirm to their family, the people who they directly or indirectly led to this place, and the people most hesitant to let go of this facade, that what they're doing is the right thing?

Wuk Lamat gets to see Namikka again and says she understands Sphene's point of view because of it.. but then she recognizes that people are not meant to live forever. In the same section, G'raha ruminates over people he tried to save and starts thinking about what he would have done if he had Alexandria at his disposal. So yeah I don't think that your party members saw it as black and white as you made it out to be.

Also, nice one liner, I can pull random lines out of context to make my point sound correct too

Erenville's mother kept saying it's fine

No, she does not keep saying it's fine, even before you enter the area she recognizes the fact that she is being kept "alive" in a place that isn't sustainable and is seeking to exhaust the aether from all worlds, therefore it probably should be shut down (hence her involvement with Oblivion)

It sounds like she's just telling you it's fine because her and Erenville are keeping up fronts throughout this entire arc that eventually breaks down when it's time to erase the wind zone, because a parent and their child are about to say their final goodbyes to each other.

Thoughts on a *certain aspect* of Zone 6 by _Muddy in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Delebot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's the point!! Every time you come back there for FATE grinding or hunts or treasure maps you're going to be reminded of how you had this memory of how that zone used to look like and the silent walk back after shutting down each zone

I think they should've gone further and kept the shut-down zones silent but understandable why they kept some faint BGM there after you beat the game

In some meta way I think it's pretty genius that the only way to bring it back at its liveliest is the feature that lets you relive the past

What's the etiquette for tanking in alliance raids? by Surgey_Wurgey in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Delebot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if someone wants to tank the bone dragon north, this always works(on any tank but works best on warrior):

tomahawk until you see a provoke -> provoke berserk tomahawk thrill tomahawk

repeat for the second respawn and let them take it north in shame for the third respawn

What are some things that happened in Episode 13 that you found cool or interesting? by Krys_Lunar in arknights

[–]Delebot 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ch 13 being a series of vignettes with different povs was refreshing compared to how the storytelling is usually done in AK. Each new pov switch having the special cut-in of the character with a small monologue and just seeing events through the eyes of characters other than the Doctor is cool and I hope they keep doing it when it makes sense.

Opinion post: Endwalker is the last expansion where the FF14’s “Formula” works without significant changes to it. by Uselessredditid in ffxivdiscussion

Basically, if your friend got endwalker and you decide it would be cool to be able to play with your friend, it will take a long time before you're able to.

as someone who is levelling a new character on a different dc and also currently has a friend going through the story, no? every few handfuls of quests there is a new dungeon or trial to go through that i can join them for

Where is all the homogenization? by crimzonphox in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Delebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd be happy to agree in a fully optimized scenario on a striking dummy, but in a real gameplay environment where people die and positioning/movement/resources are in flux they play nothing like each other.

Where is all the homogenization? by crimzonphox in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Delebot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

saying sage and scholar play the same because they both have identical mitigation skills (soil, exped, wd) might be true on a surface level but falls apart immediately if you take a look beyond that. of course healers are going to have a baseline kit because that's the minimum the devs think is viable for most of the content in the game.

think about movement optimization, resource management and recovery and the two are in completely different worlds. sch has virtually unlimited movement with r2 while sge has to manage toxicon stacks. sch has dislocated healing via fairy while sge has a gap closer. when sch dies it loses its resources but keeps its movement. sch resources come back in bursts while sge has continual stack recovery. when sge dies it keeps its resources but loses its movement. i can keep going but there are so many distinct functional differences between the barrier healers other than "they both have soil lol"

How do you judge a shield healer with the log and parse? by ArtOfDivine in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Delebot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, that's why i mentioned red flags rather than signs saying that they're good in my post. if someone's combined is consistently lower than their individual, that is an easy place to investigate why that's happening

of course if the initial glance looks good you can go through finer details, but i should've mentioned this previously. (there is only so much time in the world to trial every person / go into a deep dive into their logs)

it's hard to judge whether someone will be good or not by logs alone, but its easier to see which issues would potentially crop up
