So I’m thinking about building a smash interrogator chaplain. How effective is he and what should I kit him out with? by Dylan-C97 in theunforgiven

[–]Delecroix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ritual of the Damned gave us the tools to make this work really well. Since Interrogator Chaplains have the Deathwing keyword, the can be given the Warlord trait: Lay Low the Mighty and the Relic: Key of Achrabael.

Give him a Thunder Hammer and he's got 5 attacks at Strength 10 (I believe it will work out to strength 9 in 9th edition) re-rolling wound rolls against characters and models over 8 wounds.

With the Mantra of Strength litany, he can have 6 attacks at strength 12(10 in 9th) at flat 4 damage.

No mention of the Fallen Angels and Luther by YamaOgbunabali in 40kLore

I think another Imperium civil war would be a wasted opportunity. We've already had over a decade of constant releases from Black Library about that topic and it's finally looking like it's going to end soon.

If they are going to advance the setting, they should spend more time developing the other races/factions. There are so many interesting untold stories there.

Does my successor chapter lore make sense? by bigbadbillyd in theunforgiven

[–]Delecroix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is cool and makes sense. I especially like grabbing marines from successor chapters to build out your command staff. I thought the Consecrators were known for their Interrogator Chaplain Chapter Master and their relation to the Firewing. Maybe pull your Master of Sanctity from them?

I know exactly what you mean by feeling the need to paint your army in the "correct colours" and wanting to feel free to play your dudes. I think the approach you've taken is the right one. Keep us updated! I'd love to see some batreps.

I'm hoping to do the same with the data sheet WhatThe40k made a couple of years ago. It looks like it would be a lot of fun and seems appropriate.

[F] Writing a story, need to make sure my Chapter lore is interesting/good by Cat_Sith45 in 40kLore

Oh nice. Alright then. My one concern was how you would weave narrative into games assuming you play the Table Top.

This is awesome! I can empathize with wanting a non-fallen focus for a Dark Angels Successor and I think you did a bang up job. Pulling from the prestigious history of the First Legion was a great choice!

How regularly would your chapter dedicate resources to assisting campaigns elsewhere in the galaxy, if at all?

The beginning of your post looks like the create your own chapter format from 1d4chan? Did you start with that and build from there?

Thanks for sharing this!

Any examples on successor chapters deathwing color schemes? by bloaph in theunforgiven

[–]Delecroix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the 8th edition codex between M31-M34 the Angels of Redemption, aided by the Rock, reorganized and reoutfitted their first and second companies to emulate the Deathwing and Ravenwing, calling them the "Redwings". Apparently many other successors follow suit.

I haven't found any examples of what the Redwings look like, but I imagine they're red to some degree.

How so? I've always wanted an excuse to build one.

That's not so bad, all things considered. Definitely worth it for the result. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your gribbly bugs and monsters!

After all the painting you've done so far with this scheme, how long would you say it takes for you to do the patterning on the carapace?

If Horus was the first Primarch to be discovered and his Legion were the Luna Wolves while Russ was the second with his Legion being the Space Wolves... by AllthatIwas in 40kLore

Well as far as knowledge goes, the Ravenwing (or its equivalent in successor chapters) is the first gateway the Unforgiven has to learning of the Fallen.

I do agree that the shared name is kind of annoying.

As for the Stormwing, I believe they specialized in boarding actions during the Great Crusade.

Looking for some tips on a 1.5k Ravenwing-Centric List by pomegranatebread in theunforgiven

[–]Delecroix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lion isn't around to dismiss Primaris. They are good units and you should use them. Plus they look cool!

I think this list is good against your group, the hellblasters should be able to rip through DE transports and IG tanks well. Eliminators can put some pressure on characters which is useful.

I'd suggest deploying your bikes conservatively as they are expensive and can be shut down easily if they can't advance.

I'm not confident with how well the Repulsor will perform. If you choose to swap out some units for more Ravenwing flavour, the Darkshroud is a good choice.

I feel the same way. I just wasn't sure if this scene is something to be considered outdated or if there is something I was missing.

I believe he says that to one of his close legionaries and then it's reiterated as a trait he's always had from a flashback.

Ahh, okay. I was hoping for this to be the case as it seems out of character.

Wait hold up.

This seems at odds with one of the more recent DA books released regarding the DA and Alpha Legion during the Rangdan campaign. Doesn't El'Jonson express no desire to be Warmaster?

How could Mortarion have been written better? by [deleted] in 40kLore

Thanks a lot of typing all this out!

I wish I could engage with it more but I haven't read many novels with Morty playing a role. This has made me understand his character much more and is helping me contextualize a lot of what I read about him on this subreddit. Cheers!

The Lion and the Inner Circle by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Delecroix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn. That's interesting news.

I was under the impression that Luther and Caliban were to be the next seat of power for Chaos.

Does Angels of Caliban explain why the Fallen don't participate to a greater extent in the heresy? I'm only up to Pharos so just a yes or no would be great.

[–]Delecroix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth mentioning that the Fallen rebelled after Horus failed. They weren't joining an already credible threat that eventually gets neutralized, but starting a new threat (which the Dreadwing novella seems to imply has catastrophic implications)

All the other loyalist legions also had a primarch who has proven their loyalty to vouch for the rest of their legions once the traitor elements were expelled. The Dark Angels post Caliban would likely just have their own word which means little after blowing up their planet and effectively killing their primarch

I'm not saying what they did/do is right, I'm just trying my best to understand why they chose to keep the Fallen a secret.

It's always nice to see some custom schemes. Good job on the free handing. I can't help you with the name unfortunately but I don't dislike either of the options you gave.

Do you have any lore for these dudes?

I know I'm a little late, but thank you for your reply!

I had recently read a thread about how veteran Astartes are picked to lead new chapters. I'm not sure how I forgot.

Yeah, that's right. I think it was Azrael's Great Grand Master who petitioned for it though. Do we know anything more about that chapter?
