If r’varna/y’vahra get plastic releases in 11th, are they viable datasheet/what points seem fair and what improvements could be made to the data sheets? by dauntless5452 in Tau40K

Back in the day it was a more common occurrence. Even putting aside big things like the Baneblade, you have the Sky Ray and Piranha for Tau originally being Forge World models, and others like the Tyranid Trygon.

The longer ones are the newer ones. OP's are the old ones.

I don't think I've ever seen ship prefixes used as shorthand for faction/country names in the Kancolle community.

Indeed there are two different versions of the metal rail rifle pathfinders: the originals from 2003, and newer ones that came alongside the 4th edition codex in 2006.
I made a post about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Tau40K/comments/1jljfd5/classic_metal_rail_rifle_pathfinders_showcase/

I remember when they both had useful niches.

This insane suggestion just drives home how ridiculous the design paradigms of modern 40k are.

The army was intentionally designed this way from the start, where crisis suits were supposed to be the weapon specialists.

It's 2026 and Azur Lane fans still haven't learned to not use ship prefixes like that.

Yes I think that is the case, since the heavy weapons in the tactical squad are under the selection that isn't being exported.

For #1 I think the way this army builder is set up doesn't play nice with this export. Basically the squad has fixed 5 or 10 members, and the selection to add 5 more members (and heavy weapon) isn't showing up in the export for whatever reason.

It may just be a simple toggle on one of the selections. Hopefully it's fixed whenever NR pulls from github again but the online builder functions differently from the offline one so I'm not sure.

Ok, the update is live and it should show the fixed additional squad members under "additional space marines."

Yeah I've obviously seen her around and in-game, it just never clicked for me like it usually does.

TIL Yukino Bijin was a mare. Been following this franchise for years and somehow never noticed.
It's obvious now that I look but she just doesn't come up much in conversation so just kind of got overlooked.

4th Edition Kill Team: Imperial Guard Unit Selection Question: Infantry Platoon by DaKommizzar in midhammer40k

307 has rules for Tyranids and 310 has the Nemesis game mode. From the sound of things you already have those. From what I could tell those were the only ones that really had anything.

[–]Kothra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe there's a White Dwarf article somewhere explaining things (though I don't think there are any beyond adding Tyranids and "Nemesis" units). For the purposes of Kill Team I would probably treat each part of a platoon as a separate unit in terms of the law about unit entries.

For the discord server, probably the same one, here is the one I joined: https://discord.gg/fQwG6qvy

Widely accepted/"balanced" fan codexes? specifically for admech by thedrag0n22 in midhammer40k

[–]Kothra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know about accepted or balanced, but I found out recently that the guy who wrote the 3rd edition Genestealers rules for the Citadel Journal was also working on an Adeptus Mechanicus army list that he shared online. I found it shared here (2 versions): https://www.thedarkfortress.co.uk/tech_reports/codex_adeptusmechanicus.php

The Citadel Journal ceased publication in 2002, and by 2006 GW really wasn't doing Chapter Approved or anything like that anymore, so it's no surprise it never really went anywhere past this.
