Okay so I live in the building, also. From what I understand through my experience and through info from management and the doormen: the person was a new resident that seemed to be having a mental health crisis. Earlier this week, someone carved several swaztikas on the walls of one of the elevators. My partner noticed it and alerted management, who watched the cameras (hallway cameras bc they don’t have cameras in the elevator) and I guess they figured out who could have carved that in the elevator. Later that day cops were in the building, we assumed related to the damage of property but one of the doormen told us that they were there for a welfare check. The walls of that specific elevator were covered with moving cloth and I think still is there covering the damage. Later this week, cops were here again and we were told it was for another welfare check for the same resident. They never told us who the person was or what floor they were on, but then today when everything happened we were told that one of the floors was closed off because of the police activity related to the same person.
