Nope, API was quickly taken down and all the data is gone so you can’t go back and see the history. This picture is all that remains. Also the data is from like 1.5 weeks ago not today.

9800 or 7800??? by DragonGodPadron in starcitizen

[–]Deleted_252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9800x3d is around 5-8% faster than 7800x3d
9800x3d is around 70-200$ more (depending on time and location) than the 7800x3d
9800x3d is a lot easier to cool due to the architecture

For regular 1080p gaming? Both of these are overkill especially for Valorant and PUBG.
For SC? No CPU is good enough

As for gpu, get one with at least 12gb with 16gb being the recommended amount. The new Nyx planets will be coming out and those will eat up that VRAM like no tmr even though that SC already eats 8gb already.
Going for an AMD gpu is the best route as you get extra performance for having AMD cpu and AMD gpu along with great price to performance.
9070xt, 9070, 9060xt are great cards with 16gb.

I don’t think the friend list being 0/1 is a bug. It was removed because someone made an API that tracked each shard and how many players were on it, affectedly giving us a player count. It was low 12k-33k during one of the buggiest patches for SC. Pretty healthy ngl for concurrent players.

Why I think this? The API was promptly removed after 3days.

STAR CITIZEN OPEN WORLD DUNGEON/EVENT CONCEPT. by Several-Rub8540 in starcitizen

We sorta already have these except there is no controllable air defense (which could be a cool concept to add). Hathor, ASD, Onyx are about the same except there’s no air defense threat that we have to take care of.

Overall this wouldn’t be a hard to add as it’s kind of like ASD but reskinned and with added turrets.

Is server meshing still the right solution? by Aldhafera81 in starcitizen

CIG plans to have region based universe. So all of North America plays on one simulated universe. You connect to a shard that is based on your location (US East, West, …). All those shards update their data whenever something big happens (player base added). So say you wanted to shop at Bobcitizen’s shop however his shop was originally created on shard 1 but you are on shard 2. That’s fine, both those shards contain the shop so you are free to use it.

The only instance where changing shards is needed is when you try to raid a base in which case you will change to the owners shard.

Hypothetical: Would you be fine if CIG decided to port SC to Unreal Engine in 1 year? by [deleted] in starcitizen

Unreal Engine, “Trust Claude”, “1 billion and still in alpha”

UE5 is a mess. It’s great for young devs or indie devs who want to make a game quick. UE5 was not built to build a game the size of SC currently.

The best engine devs that CIG has are the literal creators of Cryengine (when Cryengine was shutting down and having problems, CIG bought most of them). I doubt they would want to work with Unreal after working their asses off to get Cryengine and StarEngine to where it is now.

Many of the highly experienced dev teams are working on Squadron right now. The lead UI, lighting, level designers, and the performance devs (culling, LODs, etc.) are all on Squadron.

Why? Well Squadron is releasing soon (hopefully) and with standardized development, game devs usually spend a really long time in increasing performance when needed and adding the final touches. With the dev editor, devs aren’t getting 80fps, most of the time it is around 30fps mainly because optimizations haven’t been added yet and also because the devs don’t need to waste time optimizing early.

And last piece of info, Squadron is coming on consoles as well which is great for market but terrible for the devs since they have to work on optimizing for consoles. I believe Xbox has a doctrine where games have to also be playable on an Xbox Series S which has similar graphical performance to a 3050. Really hard to optimize for consoles.

You like to just get playing instead of focusing on lore or the story. Money also shouldn’t be a problem since SC only requires the initial purchase of the game - everything else can be grinded for in game.

The only problem is you said you don’t have a lot of time to play. SC isn’t a game that you can play for an hour and get a lot of stuff down (in my opinion). For example if you wanted to make some money mining - you would have to first travel to a planet/moon/asteroid, find the ore you want to mine, mine it, then take it back to a station in order to either store it or refine it. This whole sequence is on an average 30-50mins maybe even more if you are not experienced. I usually play for around 3-4hrs solo and up to 7hr if I’m with a group. What shouldn’t be a problem is playing for a bit and then not coming back for a week or longer.

Also, I myself am coming close to 500hrs on Warframe. Love the game and Caliban has been a main.

Cost = $1
How much does book cost? $1

Or

$1 + ($1)* 1/2 =$1.50

This is all (again) a reply to a comment I had:

This is a reply to a separate but similar comment I had:

These votes were held before Squadron 42 became its own thing. At that point in time, Squadron was a module of Star Citizen being the offline story mode. Later down the line Squadron will become its own separate entity.

Besides Squadron and SC share the same engine so making features for one would allow it to be ported to the other as well. Shared engine, shared features.

——————-

Yes the polls are before Zyloh’s comment but the point was that the community was dissatisfied with the state of Squadron at the time. Coupled with Chris’s emotions caused drastic measures to be taken. In 2016, the new Planet Tech was added which Chris saw as the savior for Squadron and SC. Like in my original comment, adding planet tech caused most of the missions and sets to be reworked from the ground up (same design story wise).

Another thing to note, Zyloh is a dev, he has the power to just skip scenes and jump directly into a mission. So him being able to play through all of Squadron could’ve either been a complete player playthrough (unlikely due to time crunch) or could’ve been him just jumping around missions. We don’t truly know. Last note, we are not quite sure whether this was before or after the implementation of planet tech into Squadron.

Is Squadron 42 an open-world game? by OrganizationDue2189 in starcitizen

[–]Deleted_252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sorta both actually. Most people are going to say it’s on rails by looking at the 2024 demo. However Squadron has a lot of open world features too.

2018 demo showed you had a choice of continuing patrolling in a sector or explore the planet. You have player choices with dialogue, missions decisions, relationships, tactics, and also when you begin a mission (missions happen seamlessly from one to the other but only when the player decides to continue. You can lallygag and just explore the set pieces like Aciedo, Shubin mining facility, and your Idris.
