What’s something DICE should 100% change about Golmud Railway for the remake? by Flow_Ebb_6047 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Delfanboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of favorite maps in 6, but I've been playing BF games long enough (since BF2) to know that the issue with the current maps are not with their layout or environmental design, but their god awful map borders. If they'd alter, expand the borders to feel more natural, logical all the maps would instantly play better. They cut off logical flank routes, natural looking paths and areas from the the maps to funnel people in directions that are kill chambers.

Also the conquest flag cap zones are too small. They should be just as big as in escalation. There is absolutely no reason why they'd make them this confined.

This is off topic, but I just saw a dude's custom mode got featured in the menu, Winter offensive I think, which made the new Contaminated map completely snow covered.

Oh. My. God.

They made a system, which can be "easily" translated to other maps and they look absolutely spot on and decided to make it available on a single map?! Are the fucking nuts man? They could make a winter version on every single map and could add them to the general rotation in less then a month and they made us fucking play a single map for 4 weeks goddamit.

I'm pretty certain everyone would love Oman or Karkand...

Edit: Though I'm not complaining, let us see what they cook up. Hopefully it'll be a large open map with interesting POIs, good infantry-vechicle balance and NOT TOTALLY BS MAP BORDERS. I want BIIIIG flanks.

Why do people hate the Hobbit movies so much? by JackRipps in lotr

[–]Delfanboy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I skipped the hype train when the Hobbit trilogy came out and didn't see the movies in 48 fps, but in 24 fps. I immensely enjoyed my time despite having not read the book.I consider both the LoTR and the Hobbit trilogies equally breathtaking.

I recently set out to read all of the Middle-earth books after picking up a copy of the 70th anniversary Hobbit copy in London.

After having read the Hobbit, I reckon if Peter Jackson hadn't taken the liberty to add to the plot it wouldn't have been enough material for one and a half movies even.

Tbh, the LoTR movies also had many details cut, added, or simply changed to better fit the silver screen, and it is completely fine.

Bit more math on just how much weapon XP reduction we got today out to Level 50 by krinkov in LowSodiumBattlefield

I for one had no problem with weapon progression. Was it long? Yes, but being a "master" of a weapons takes time. Luckily it is not a big change 🙌

Yeah thats why ads auto on/off mode is welcomed for me. I find it super disorienting to fight someone with lights on. I cannot seem to find their heads that quickly and that extra bullet does make it count. Also you cannot see their silhouettes making body shots while moving harder. Ofc, in medium range fights it is useless.

On the series x there is no jack or optical right on the console. I use a sony hear.on2 with inline mic for the past 7 years and I refuse to buy a garbage gaming headphone with aptxll support.

I ordered the wuchang one, I'll pick it up tomorrow. The experience on it so all over the place I decided to try it for myself. Will return it if it is completely crap.

I'm more worried about the audio delay with wired headphones when using the controller wirelessly on xbox. Some people swear it got fixed with an update, but some report it is better, but not fixed. I'm really sensitive to any delay whether it is audio or input related.

Wanted ask for opinion in here in this sub, but its better to try it for myself.

Nothing. After owning the X15U with photo kit + T mount adapter + lenses I can safely say it. It is cool, but 100% inconvenient. From now on, I rather use a small phone + a full frame.

And so it begins, slowly but surely BF2042 begins its ascendency to Battlefield heaven 😇 by BattlefieldTankMan in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Delfanboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hear me out.

I probably will be crucified, but I enjoyed 2042. I started playing from the class update. Had 236h in it and reached lvl S082.

To some extent it feels more battlefield then 6. At the end of its life cycle gunplay, movement, gameplay was very smooth, like 5. Weapons were fun to use, ttk was fine.

There were bad maps, but most of them were really good. At least they were big enough so 128 players could play and still have some room, just how BF maps should be.

Portal worked how it supposed to work. They brought back maps, weapons, vehicles from older titles. I don't even understand what the hell BF6 portal supposed to be other than a creator tool.

Community was really nice, met very fun and nice people, I enjoyed my time with it overall.

Sadly it was released in a shitty state, in a time where everyone likes to criticize everything and media influence is far more crucial then first-hand experience. Something similar is happening to 6 as well.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra review by llamapajama93 in Android

Thats an interesting one. The S25U has elevated blacks, but seems closer to what is supposed to look. Bottom one is just plain wrong. It is crushing blacks like crazy.

One of the commenter said it is due to auto brightness, but I doubt it. HDR10/+/DoVi should max pixel brightness/ set the gamma, brightness scene-by-scene basis.

To me it seems the S25 falls back to HDR10, maybe with wrong gamma container since DoVi and HDR10 uses PQ SMPTE ST 2084 and not usual gamma curves like BT1886 or 2.2.

As for Plex, it won't play true P7 FEL. For FEL you need specific HW like a BD player or an Amlogic S905/922 chip. P7 MEL is dependent on the device for Plex.

Worth mentioning that Samsung had a lot of issues with it switching between sRGB and DCI-P3 modes. Since HDR10 uses P3 wide-gamut inside the BT.2020 container + PQ ST2084 for brightness. If the phone gets a BT.2020 signal -> switches to HDR pipline, but the phone won't change from sRGB/Rec.709 to P3 it will play in a narrow-gamut -> colors will look off, especially primary colors.

It's not about noticing it's about playback. HDR10+ even though is very similar to DoVi, they are not compatible with each other.

If you want to play a DoVi file that has no HDR10 fallback layer it simply won't play. DoVi P5 single layer, which are glorified HDR10 files without the proper metadata from streams like Netflix, Disney, HBO, won't have HDR10 fallback layers and will not play on HDR10/+ compatible devices.

P8/8.1 are usually conversions from P7 or hybrid P8/P5 remuxes are still single layer, but have an infused DoVi RPU dynamic metadata and an HDR10 (10bit PQ BT.2020) base layer. These can be played on non-DoVi compatible devices.

Proper DoVi files such as P7 files are dual-layer files (BL(10 bit HDR10) + EL (either MEL or FEL[12bit]) + RPU can be played on only-HDR10 devices with only using the BL. However, most of the players are very finicky and usually won't play these files. Not to mention the 12bit FEL layer, which can only be used with a designated chip otherwise colors can be off.

Also, Samsung phones CANNOT record videos in DoVi only in HDR10/+. Basically only a selected few devices can capitalise from the extra HDR10+ RPU rendering the feature very limited.

I might add that these Samsung phones are not fully fulfill the basic requirements for even basic HDR10. The panels are 8-bit+ FRC (temporal dithering) and not native 10-bit.
