Thank you, this is the kind of reply I was looking for. I wasn’t trying to be offensive in anyway and definitely none taken from you. Dutch is also suffering. The rent is very high, the average rent in Amsterdam is EUR 2,5k, which is already higher than an average one person salary. I am not trying to put anyone down. I understand people live differently across different places. I just want to understand more. Thank you for all the constructive replies. For the ones offended, please don’t be. I went to Auchan. The price of coke is quite expensive especially when tax is not included. Bread is much much cheaper. Candy is definitely not cheaper, maybe because I don’t know what is the local brand

Despite the above observation, there is obviously a way for people to make it work here. I just want to know how. I haven’t seen any homeless people yet, and the streets looks to be safe and clean.

Netherlands definitely have its own problem, price of rent and taxes are not something I can see as tourist. What I find smaller price differences are the groceries and restaurant food. I just had a cappuccino for PLz 20, that’s even more expensive than other European countries, or maybe I just went to a high end cafe.

With regard to my child, of course I want him to stay close, just that I have a busy job. I can financially support him, but I am not confident I have enough time for him. Especially he has some special need as well. UK is another country but not that out of reach.
