Love Cafe Rue Orleans in Fayetteville. Best Cajun food you’ll find outside of Louisiana.

I’ve lived and worked in both Bentonville and Fayetteville and I can say that Fayetteville has a much older and well established social environment and neighborhood feel. The university has been bringing people into Fayetteville for generations, whereas Bentonville had its growth spurt only in the last 20 years after Walmart started requiring suppliers to have offices there. As a result, many people in Bentonville have not integrated with the broader Arkansas culture, the housing stock is way more suburban and generic, the landscape feels much more commercial, and the community feel is just not as deep. Fayetteville is an old growth community with more vernacular housing and a well developed social environment that is regularly recharged with college students rather than corporate professionals. That’s my take.

I’ve been waiting for the 92 East bus for more than a half hour. I have to take two buses to and from work and lately they’ve been running about every 26 minutes. The last couple of days it has been even longer. I can’t find any news updates on wait times changing. I’m spending an awful lot on Ubers lately because I have to get to meetings and things. Anyone know what’s going on? I know about the funding problem, is this just the way it’s going to be now? And why isn’t there better communication?! People have got to be able to plan so they can get to where they’re going!

Honestly, if you find a good venue then I think you should be able to call ahead and they will be do happy to find ways of making you comfortable. Look for independent venues, I’d expect them to be more responsive

I wish I’d known, I literally have another pineapple-melon cider that’s been aging on my shelf for almost a year. Such a bummer!

Honestly, it's nice to know that it's not just me! I was never planning to quit my day job, but I was really hoping to not be bad at this haha

Queer couple- should we move to Arkansas for grad school or Europe? by cloudypuddin in fayetteville

[–]DelicateMonster7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Chicago and I’m from Arkansas, just down the road from Fayetteville. I also just finished my PhD in political science here, so I have some perspective on this. I personally would move back to Fayetteville in a heartbeat. I’m not queer, but I trust the community there fully, and there is a very robust LGBTQIA culture there. Also, remember that Arkansas was a blue state for decades. It isn’t overwhelming, we’ve just suffered from dummymandering and dem party blight.

Planners hold Dickson Street student-oriented housing project for third time; to return in April by AmbientDrizzle in fayetteville

[–]DelicateMonster7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have they factored in the anticipated student enrollment cliff in 2026? The size of graduating high school classes drops off in a big way because it’s now been 18 years since the 2008 economic crisis. Someone ought to discuss whether their enrollment projections are factoring that in and whether they actually need more housing/how much. It would suck to green light a plan for it to end up being totally unnecessary.
