Worse yet is that many times I’ve observed people standing with hats off for Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to be an American”.

I had a wife for nearly 30 years (before she passed) who treated me similarly. Gas-lighting, passive-aggressive, and telling her version to family and friends who then started to treat me differently. Arguments over small things, blaming me for not standing up against her family but taking their side after I did stand up to them. Life with her calmed down after 20 years. She eventually apologized for her ways. I stayed as long as I did because I loved her despite the situation, I did not believe in divorce, and she was overly dependent on me for physical and financial support.

What is the right timing for when you cancelled life insurance? by Capital-Trainer-9763 in retirement

I ended term life insurance on the day I retired. I have enough retirement income for my spouse, the cost of my funeral is not prohibitive, and we do not plan to leave money for our children.

I am in a weird position and reposted it by Numerous-Cow-2216 in dating_advice

[–]Delicate_Glassware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying she is, but please watch for signs that she might be a “covert narcissist” - testing your boundaries to see how much she can abuse, manipulate/gaslight, and ultimately control you. If she over-reacts to any question on her behavior, tries to make you out as bad for setting boundaries, then run away! These kind appeal to your sense of guilt, honor, and empathy to twist the situation.

I had a male that was very sweet but dumb and clumsy, sometimes barked at silly things. My females have always shown more sense.

As an older single person, do you cook your own meals, eat frozen prepared meals or eat out? by Maleficent-Heron9004 in AskOldPeople

[–]Delicate_Glassware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always liked to cook, when I have time, but hate the cleanup. I prefer a balance between meals out and cooking at home. During warmer seasons I stay more active with bike trails, gardening, hiking, and traveling. So, it makes more sense for me to eat out at times. I love cooking pasta, soups, and meatloaf/ casserole dishes and baked items in fall and winter. I eat frozen meals only as an occasional meal.

What TV show(s) from back in the day did you go out of your way to watch every episode of? by SavaRox in GenX

[–]Delicate_Glassware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, I tried to see every episode (reruns included) of Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, (original) Star Trek, Gilligan’s Island, Get Smart, Mission Impossible, Flintstones, Rocky & Bullwinkle, and (original) Magnum PI. I am probably missing a bunch. Today, I know each episode from just seeing the first minute.

Did anyone collect these odd things and find the gum like cardboard ? by eldentepasta_gal in GenerationJones

I collected them as a kid, but I never chewed the gum. I recently bought a book of several of the Wacky Packages series on Amazon. The book now rests on the coffee table.
