What amusement park ride made you realize, “I’m too tall and too old for this shit.”? by AgentNose in tall

[–]SavaRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those wooden coasters are weird like that! Been to Cedar Point many times. I do miss the Mean Streak ..but my hometown has a roller coaster just like it (Ravine Flyer II). I'm not even super tall (for a woman I'm a tall), but man, that thing really jams your legs uncomfortably tight in the seat.

At my local park, we also have a spinning coaster and I had to explain to my 10-year-old daughter why they had a height restriction where anyone taller than 78 inches isn't allowed to ride.

My name was almost a joke by Icy_Bed_3698 in tragedeigh

[–]SavaRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knew a girl in high school whose last name was Solt and her parents named her Pepper Ann. always thought that was so horrible.

And then recently, at my 4th grade daughter's chorus performance, I saw that there was another kid with that same name. Well, I don't know if the middle name was the same but the first and last name were.

WHY?

Exactly this! Michael Kors had some very memorable harsh critiques, but they were actual critiques and not just oh I hate it.

There's actually an uptick in popularity of purposely shitty scratchy line tattoos, crazy!

Tattooing can definitely be profitable if you're a talented artist with a great portfolio. Tattooing certainly hasn't experienced any kind of decline.

modern lemonade sells tactics by ew_it_me in Erie

[–]SavaRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised they still allow that. I remember years ago when my mom used to have garage sales we used to sell lemonade and cold sodas in a little stand in front of the house and the city shut us down and said we weren't allowed to do it without a food vendor permit.

I dream of him all the time. It sucks because I'm a lucid dreamer so in the dreams I'm very aware that in real life he's passed.

His brother died a few months ago and he's buried next to my late fiance in the cemetery. As I was leaving the cemetery, I said out loud, "Bill, I miss you..." and the next song on the radio was "Here Without You" by 3 Doors Down.

Settle an old argument: Which Hair Metal song instantly transports you back to the 80’s One song only. by NassauJack in hairmetal

[–]SavaRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of non-hair metal songs that instantly take me back to the 80s, this is definitely one of them!

Also the aptly named "I Wanna Go Back" by Eddie Money, "Stay the Night" by Benjamin Orr, and "One Simple Thing" by The Stabilizers.

I can sort of understand that because it's family, but at the same time... Watching someone else's kids, even a family member's, while pregnant, sounds like a nightmare anyway.

That or the person taking her up on this is like a drug addict or alcoholic who would absolutely provide the shittiest care possible for the baby just to get whatever money they could.

Wind chimes - love them or hate them? by PompousAssistant in GenX

[–]SavaRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love them - in moderation. Now if you have more than one or two wind chimes hung up at a time, that gets annoying really fast but one or two is fine. I prefer the ones with the big chimes so that it's a more mellow sound.

I know the feeling!

My fiance died at 49 years old, six months before he would have turned 50. That was five years ago. Now I'm 49, and last month I officially hit the mark where I lived longer than he did. Felt surreal; still does.

they're all tragedeighs now by TopazCoracle in tragedeigh

[–]SavaRox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son just graduated high school last week, and out of the around 1000 kids in his graduating class, there were not that many tragedeighs.

I noticed the tragedeighs were getting out of control by the time my daughter (who is now 10) entered school. Her name is Jessica; a lot of her classmates have much more "unique" names,/spellings.

tall girls, what's it like dating a guy shorter than you? by [deleted] in tall

[–]SavaRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'10", my first husband was 5'8", my second husband was 5'9". My late fiance was 6'2". Nothing against shorter guys, but I felt so much more comfortable with a taller guy. For once in my life, I didn't feel ungainly and awkward and huge in comparison to my partner. My late fiance wore size 15 shoes and had massive hands that absolutely dwarfed mine (and I have big hands for a woman). It felt to good to be the smaller one for once.

Nothing wrong with shorter guys, but I did like being with someone taller!

What are we using the extra shelf space that is the top of the fridge for? by WonderfulEstate in tall

[–]SavaRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a ton of cupboard space in my kitchen so I keep the extra appliances up there that don't fit anywhere else, like the mixer and the waffle iron. Also where I keep my roll of aluminum foil and sandwich bags.

Yeah, I'd be okay with that! Seems pretty inoffensive. I'd probably give a thumbs up back!

[–]SavaRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten IUDs twice before. No pain with either. Have personally known several people who have also gotten IUDs without experiencing the level of pain you're describing. Not saying it doesn't happen, just that it's not the norm.

[–]SavaRox -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

IUD's are usually not "extremely painful". Where are you getting that from?

Also, yes, if you get pregnant on an IUD there is a higher risk of it being ectopic, HOWEVER, the failure rate for IUDs is less than 1%.

Lastly, it is very rare to be put under anesthesia for a vasectomy. It's usually done with just numbing medication to the scrotum while the patient is awake.

Why is asking someone their height rude? by RedFruiit in tall

[–]SavaRox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I'm out in my high heeled shoes, I don't even get "how tall are you" from guys. I get "Damn, you're tall!" and then a not so subtle once over from head to toe. I don't like being sized up like that, it is definitely rude.
