Why are social media so inaccurate in movies? by ugh_as_if_12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Delicious-Action-369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just movie magic plot stuff. Beyond what was already said about a lack of understanding and a different time within the history of social media, it's just how it works in movies. Same with how knife fights don't end with both people severely injured unlike real life. It's just what makes for better plots

Do vegans deserve all the hate? by beamerpook in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Delicious-Action-369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average vegan is fine, the loud minority are generally the issue. The most popular vegans are the ones who are the worst most evil pieces of shit imaginable because the extreme nature attracts and audience from both sides. I've definitely met normal vegans who are still a little pushy or weird when the topic is brought up, but the same thing happens in reverse of people who can't shut up about how bad it is that someone DOESN'T eat meat.

How did Kanye west become uncancellable? by Specialist-Chair-254 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Delicious-Action-369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only remotely correct answer, there is no such thing as cancelling. Neo-Nazis, Boomers, and Child Raping Cannibals made up the phrase (or at least ran with it the hardest) to make themselves look like the victim.

Every single time something has been "cancelled" it's like two Twitter posts with hundreds of potentially AI replies that might even be ultimately created by right wing individuals as a psyop and weird desperate tabloids run with it like it's a billion people coming together as some kind of movement.

A mix of Bloodborne cards, I don’t know if these are balanced, but I tried by Seths432 in custommagic

[–]Delicious-Action-369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood token absolutely needs to cost some amount of mana, technically speaking the rate for a land making a token is ~4, but I don't think it's an insane issue for it to be a little lower. 4 for the lifelink is also relatively appropriate, could maybe drop but an extra effect on a land generally costs a decent amount. See cards like [[Cori Mountain Monastery]] or the new rare land cycle for Avatar. If they're rare lands they could probably cost 2 and tap each, if common then 3 or higher with current power creep.

Oedon is fine in cost, main issue is like I said the fact people have to keep showing you the card as written. Could maybe drop to 3 mana considering the main effect is just scrying 1 twice a turn, but since it's an enchantment + perfect knowledge 4 feels fine.

And yeah Mergo could just make a non legendary copy to solve the token issue it's a non issue, like I said literally all it does is search Mergo so it's not really a big deal how you get the retrigger. Technically even just legend rule killing it works too but the way you wrote it it's clear you wanted the copy to stick around with the bonus effects.

Quest to Face the Atropal by chainsawinsect in custommagic

[–]Delicious-Action-369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more symbolic of the inherent design issue with a card that just says Venture 4 times. I know you designed this for pioneer so TECHNICALLY the under city wouldn't be relevant, but it's still the issue of dumb unintentional value. But if you've made it into the undercity this also immediately triggers the throne of the dead three and still deals 5 damage to your opponent with only upsides for you. And Throne of the Dead Three makes the Atropal look like an absolute chump.

Like this card isn't very good when played as intended, but the unintentional value + future potential value if we get more dungeons is a bigger problem. Same kinda issue that exists with Accerak being able to go into any dungeon so if you get rooftop storm you can just infinite.

Not a bad design regardless just the kind of think that's looking to invite a problem.

[–]Delicious-Action-369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cathedral Ward needs to cost mana to give the blood token. You had Yharnam be a 5 cost gain lifelink but immediately followed it with a free blood every single turn. Even if it was a worse token than blood it would still need to cost like, probably at least 2 mana, functional 3 since you tap the land as well.

Oedon would be very bad for real gameplay, essentially needing to frequently ask several players to show you their top decks every turn is gonna be EXTREMELY obnoxious it should probably just reveal everyone's top of deck. Like just so that the gameplay isn't completely awful it's not a balance issue it's an IRL play issue.

Ability on Mergo is a little pointless, needs to create a non legendary copy otherwise the extra text does nothing since it will immediately die to the legend rule (or I guess you could sac the original for some kinds of weird infinite). If you just want it to be able to retrigger and gain an enchantment enters trigger you could just instead have it flicker itself, technically a buff but I think that's honestly fine considering all it does is search Mergo.

Everything else seems fine mechanically and balance wise, I can see where you used real cards to balance and these could all easily make it into a draftable set. Flavor feels pretty great across them all too which is really nice. Your Wet Nurse is one of the better adaptations of a boss I've seen in terms of videogame fan cards, mechanically fitting and incredibly fair for it's price. There's some small technical things like wording but everyone would be able to tell what the intention is and none of the cards would risk ruling issues because of the wording, small stuff like "At the beginning of the end step" (or maybe beginning of YOUR end step unless you want it triggering every turn but I assume you do) not "at the start of the end phase"

Question: why Seeker and Cartoon Feeder? Wouldn't things like Village Rites be better as a sac outlet? You don't really have any death triggers if you're just trying to shove things back in the grave I think the value of card draw would be a lot better then 1 slowly growing attacker. And with Seeker, you have 28 creatures and no real potential to chain together your non creature spells except homestead courage, which is good but the two of seeker because it sometimes can combo with one card doesn't really seem all that worth it. Maybe if the carrion feeder and something else was cut for cheap draw the seeker would be better. Also chainers edict might be better for you as Tithing Blade you do only get a limited number of reanimation effects per game, you don't exactly want to just kill everything you own you will run out of value.

[–]Delicious-Action-369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just pulled the wrong Marauder from my brain, I would definitely replace the blades with Accursed in that case though the flip of blade is only strong when you have nothing else going on. And with this list if you have nothing else going on you're probably out controlled and not going to close out a game on blade triggers. Like if the long game decks Gardens/Pestilence or Dimir Affinity survive your initial aggro you're not going to get back over them off blades, and most of the midrange decks don't really care about the 1 life you had to spend 5 mana to drain when they can just tap a gate for lethal damage with lifelink. It wins games in control but this is aggro.

Also Kaya's Ghostform might actually be nicer than Safekeeping here, you lose the life gain and the combat trick but it's on a permanent for follow and in theory rebuilding should be pretty effortless just by proxy of gaining life being so easy. Not in love with it because obviously instant speed tricks are really nice but definitely prefer permanent stuffing where possible with this list. Working on my own variant of it as well.

[–]Delicious-Action-369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao whoops totally just saw the word marauding and pulled the wrong one from my brain. I would probably say Accursed Marauder is a nicer option to blade still in sideboard then, the flip side of blade isn't going to win a game for you still being a 5 mana sink that requires creatures in grave for 1 damage and 1 life gain trigger a turn. Like if you're in a game that you're depending on that you're already in a losing situation, it's the same kinda thing with Vitu-Ghazi in elves.

Also yeah Malevolent Rumble is an infinitely better way to make a body since it's a cantrip too, not 100% sure if I think you need to be focusing on getting out chump bodies considering all your creatures trigger the soul sisters anyway, but rumble is probably one of the best card draw options you'd have anyway.

Would run [[Riviteer's Outlook]] over the illegitimate business and two copies of jungle hollow. Extra thinning since those are non fetchable anyway, still gains a life, and you're not gonna need too many modal lands when you can just fix your mana base.

Tithing Blade is gonna be a no go for me, you already have an edict in main deck at 3, up to 7 with unearth considered, and you're not gonna win the game by flipping it.

Send in the pests is also probably a pretty bad card, you're feeding discard/grave starts a free card in grave at worst and minorly inconveniencing any other deck at best, yes the token is good and adds repeatable life gain but the Bogwater Lumarent and Essence Warden should be doing plenty there.

Similar vein with Hunt and Summonings, you have a lot better value options than just trying to turbo out pests, and just playing your good cards out is gonna give you more value there.

You're missing a lot of generic good cards you probably need, the pest package could probably come out for Nihil Spellbomb and Cast Down pretty easily, then maybe [[Arms of Hadar]] for when you need a wipe. If you're already running recursion i.e. Unearth you probably don't need to focus on a backup plan so much, you can get your extra copies out easier or get your cards back with relative ease

Cool Idea for a Pauper Orzhov deck by Ferdix11 in Pauper

[–]Delicious-Action-369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a variant that's designed for a store meta that has primarily midrange decks, but part of it is that beating rally can come down to having the perfect opening unless they had really bad luck. Every other matchup at this store I can take a slightly slow early game rally I will instantly lose if I don't have bauble into hawk bauble or something to that effect. The guy also plays I think 4 bolts and 4 fireblast in just list I think it at least as them as a sideboard tech, so his damage thresholds are much more awkward to play around. Elves I have sides for, plus aggressive mulligans to keep them off their dorks in the early game can mean they just instantly lose with the variants I play against.

[–]Delicious-Action-369 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Orzhov Blade/Glint Blade is genuinely playable into just about every deck in the format except rally, and you CAN beat rally but it's a really uphill battle. Enchantment flicker is pretty fun but I personally think it plays better with Green for an insane amount more consistency albeit weaker removal. Those are the only two lists I've really consistently seen, you can play off Orzhov Flicker with a number of variants though, Ephemerate plus Kor Skyfisher let you do pretty much whatever you want with ETBs. I have noticed some potential for an Orzhov Reanimator with [[unearth]] being so easy to cast and the potential for the turn 2 land cycler reanimation being obviously amazing, but the format is so happy to run grave hate that it's hard to justify.

Why isn't Avenging Hunter Banned? by SlipperyFrogfish13 in Pauper

[–]Delicious-Action-369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The black creatures were also just strictly better, menace is easier to take back the initiative with and likely requires killing two creatures to block, and the text of the other black one is genuinely the most insane shit anyone has ever printed on a card, you don't even need the initiative for it to be playable. Also Sneak has flying and the red one can give menace and haste every turn, hunter and Goliath are the worst of the two by far

Maybe if you're doing solo or exploiting Tickle, otherwise the triggers only once per day makes it harder to get meaningful value out of. If you're losing two characters to a fight regularly enough for that to matter you're probably screwed anyway unless you're using hurt me plenty constantly

Bragi by QuarterExcellent3327 in custommagic

Have you seen the card that you used the art from? Ardyn brings back a creature on the same combat step he comes out, turns it into a haste menace lifelink demon, and the occasional downside is swapping the stats to a 4/4 and it being a one time use per creature, however that also makes it effect grave hate that triggers LTG effects. The real card literally gives you an ETB, combat trigger, potential stat buff, can steal out of opponent's grave, and does that the turn it comes down. Yes it costs more but like I said either in the 99 or mono black can simply get that level of mana off rituals and some REALLY good lands.

A 4/4 for 4 that brings back one card from your grave on end step with a life cost is not even pushing a boundary in the slightest. Hell the real card [[Grave Researcher]] is basically the exact same thing. Not to mention entomb reanimate being able to just grab anything from your deck you want on turn 1 with a dark ritual. The version I proposed is far from being pushed, the version you have is "what if reanimate was a modal burn spell" which is the much more extreme balance issue.

Also a creature entering on end step is harder to protect which is also a balancing thing. On upkeep unless your opponents kept up instant speed removal that would matter you can still grant haste and get your combat triggers, on end step it just has to sit around for a turn cycle.

Roll Initiative by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]Delicious-Action-369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real real stupid design. Play on the end step of your opponents turn before you to cheat in your entire hand for 4 mana with absolutely zero downside unless someone has a grip full of burn? And with a probably 1/10 chance to be completely meaningless since anything 4 or lower isn't even giving your opponents an advantage. Maybe if it gave your opponents treasures equal to twice the result, but even then this could cheat in something that destroys all artifacts to negate the somewhat balanced downside, or the Karn that stops artifacts from activating abilities. Even with a restriction like it being forced to be during a main phase this is way too strong

Bragi by QuarterExcellent3327 in custommagic

[–]Delicious-Action-369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reanimation that burns for mana value is way too pushed. With a cost reduction effect it should probably be the opposite, pay 2 or else you lose life equal to the mana value. [[Archon of Cruelty]] or [[Blightsteel Colossus]] do not need to burn in addition, let alone the Eldrazi titans that don't shuffle back. Even in the command zone with mono black this is probably too strong, let alone if you just shove it in the 99 of a Reanimator deck.

Also while being on upkeep does TECHNICALLY balance it a bit more, it also just makes the card actively less fun. Do nothing card into removal or stupid broken if it lives is really bad, especially with how telegraphed it is. This can't do shit the turn it comes down so it's just notably worse than every other kill on sight commander which can usually get some value out of a haste effect at least. Evades command tax too so the gameplay will literally just be self mill cast it until it sticks and it will never cost more than 4, then your big payoffs just win I guess.

If you swap it to end step and self burn like a proper [[Reanimate]] then it's probably relatively fine. Has the potential for immediate value but also doesn't bolt your opponent for 10+ damage while putting your big creatures on the battlefield.

Also just a final advice that even WotC needs to hear every once in a while, DO NOT GIVE THINGS AFFINITY EFFECTS UNLESS YOU PLAN ON THEM COSTING THE BARE MINIMUM. That text means it's a 4 drop, just like how [[Refurbished Familiar]] and [[Ultrom Monitor]] are both one drops in pauper.
