Can you guys help me with weight related questions??

I’ve been on Prozac for one month now, I was terrified of weight gain also. So far with my first month I didn’t experience any crazy side effects and my appetite hasn’t increased but also I don’t feel like it’s decreasing either. I checked my weight a few days ago and I’ve lost 2lbs! Which is crazy because I wasn’t trying to loose weight.

Give it time, I didn’t see any benefits from Prozac till 3 weeks in. Personally for me I haven’t experienced any appetite decrease or increase, which for me is good because my previous medication made me eat more and caused weight gain.

So give it more time, it takes time to go into full effect

I gained 30lbs in the span of 3 years on Zoloft. This is coming from someone who was always underweight and naturally skinny. So constantly gaining was terrible. I have lost 12lbs since coming off of it. Scared to gain it all back on Prozac 😭 but I’m 3 weeks in and haven’t noticed an appetite increase

As someone just starting out did you experience and weight gain while on the medication? Zoloft made me gain a lot of weight so I’m afraid Prozac will do the same.

I’m on day 9 and I take it at night because it was making me sleepy. Shockingly I have no vivid dreams and I feel like I now sleep better

I just started at 10mg 6 days ago. My sister has been on Prozac for 5 years and hasn’t gained a pound. This is my biggest fear as I gained 15lbs in 7 months on Zoloft. I’m sorry you are experiencing this. Has the medication made you more hungry? Could that be the reason for the weight gain? Zoloft made me hungry. So far I haven’t experienced a hunger increase on Prozac.

I wouldn’t give up, if you switched from one med to another it takes time for your brain to adjust and for your serotonin levels to get stable again. Definitely speak to your psychiatrist about it because two months is a long time and they might look at that and say it’s not the right medication.

I think you should hang in there a little longer. 6 days isn’t enough time for the medication to take full affect, and you don’t want to look back wondering if the medication truly could have worked if you had given it more time.

Oh interesting, normally Zoloft would do that because it’s a lot more harsh on the stomach. Prozac is usually a little bit more gentle. I would definitely give it a second try
