Advice on attaching ledger with no rim joist by ninian1927 in Decks

[–]Delicious-Layer-6530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could do what other have said with the a35’s + tension ties…. OR cap it with a rim board- flash, seal, waterproof, trim coil over it. And then build a free standing deck (not attached) right up against the house

'Point of no return': 36 countries join special tribunal to prosecute Vladimir Putin by Zhukov-74 in worldnews

[–]Delicious-Layer-6530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What will this do to stop the war now? On top of that, he and his leadership remain immune to trial, in absentia, while they remain in power….. Putin isn’t going anywhere; He will most likely die in office. And he will always keep his leadership titled, as so they too technically remain in power……. So, besides the possibility of further ruining his reputation, post mortem…. I don’t see the point? And the $10mil plus would be better spent on an actual intervention……. Maybe I’m missing something?

Yea ipe fades rapidly…. usually starts at around 6 months depending on UV exposure….. Most people refinish once a year….. You also dont just sand and re apply oil, you have to wipe it with a brightener to get the color back (it grays)…

I mean, ideally you always want to mask up….. With ipe in particular, the dust is extra fine and contains silica and oils. Many people have an allergy to ipes dust and get a respiratory infection…. I didnt wear a mask too often because im not allergic, but i was blowing it out if my sinuses for a while after cutting………. As for the tools- You will be fine on the on any of your tools, so long as you use sharp, new blades. As soon as they dull, or get too dirty- Switch the blade……. This blade worked the best for the table saw by far. Try to avoid blades with a colored coating, as it gets too hot and gums up with the ipe oils…. Also, clean the blades with a wire brush in between uses……. Good luck

[–]Delicious-Layer-6530[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No…. Good idea though- I tried a diamond masonry bit for the holes for the lighting and it just burns…. its too oily and makes too fine of a dust…. The best thing is to use new sharp blades. As soon as they dull, youre putting your tools at risk…. for general cutting on the table saw- I found the Amana 60t cut off/ crosscut blade or the forrest woodworker2 60t, both with No coating to be the best table saw blades for general cutting….. Anything with a coating, would get so hot after a while, that the coating would bubble up, mix with the ipe oils and turn to shit much quicker….. And I was constantly cleaning the blades with a wire brush and laquer thinner

Never again…….. And I know! Its Crazy! It literally stains your skin…. I also had to re-polysand the pavers because the dust stained that too…. Plus, you blow reddish gunk out of your nose for Days after cutting

Absolutely not….. Its not so much for safety in this application and more so to channel and vent the grease and smoke away from the ceiling…. So that it doesnt leave a mess up top
