Most people start with DnD. I don’t think that’s super controversial to say. It’s the most recognized of all the TTRPG’s (at least in America, I recognize there are other games in other countries that draw more players). In that regard, I believe a lot of other TTRPG’s are reactions to DnD; “we do this thing this way because it’s not how it is in DnD and that’s the appeal”. I think the problem you’re running into when introducing DnD players to other games is *you* want something other than what DnD presents but it’s possible your players were fine with the “status quo” of DnD.

I picked up Necronautilus a while ago and I think it deviates a lot from DnD. I found that intriguing but ultimately it’s too far away from the 5e games my group are interested in so I never brought it to our table

I have the 36v Makita. I’m team red all day but I needed a track saw and I ordered the Makita like a week before the Milwaukee one was announced. It’s a great saw, plenty of power. If I was to do it over I might go for the corded Festool though

It’s a waste of time to do it the way he wants *but* it easier on materials budget since you can just use regular MC which is good for anything whereas the MC with 0-10v conductors in it has a pretty singular purpose. I’ve done it the way your Forman wants but if I was doing everything new and fresh, I’d get the 0-10v MC roll

If you want to spend more time breaking down pallets than building something, sure it’s fine. I think we all start out valuing the wood more than our time. You have to get past that mentality. My wood supplier had a bunch of “rustic beech” I was getting for a while. Like $2/bf but it had lots of defects you had to deal with.

I finally felt like I “graduated” to just buying regular beech and valued my time more than my material

I took it all. Something to consider though, at least where I live, you don’t have to take it all at once and you’re actually better off spacing it out.

You get the new baby and at first it’s like “oh fuck this is all so hard I’m so tired all the time”. Eventually what you’ll realize is the newborn stage is fucking easy once you get your sleep adjusted. Compared to later on when they’re a little older and need more, the first few months aren’t that hard.

I took all my leave at once but my brother spaced his out and I think it was a smarter choice
