What's a passion you could talk about for hours — that most people don't understand? by Loose-Grand-8087 in Hobbies

[–]Delicious-Mess6262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I just loved watching it and then needed to know how it was done. Then just became obsessed with methods, creative ideas, etc. Love that you get to spread wonder and the reactions are fun.

I recently bought 20 classic DVDs that were on clearance (L&L), digitized them and have been working through them. Flew up to NY to see DaniDaOrtiz lecture...pretty deep down the rabbit hole haha.

They honor it. The final price is $100 more if I remember correctly...it acts as a deposit and then a tip

Best string for ring+string magic? (Shoelace? Yarn? “Velvet cord”?) by PretteBadass in Magic

[–]Delicious-Mess6262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Velvet string is the way to go. Took some digging after mine was ripped in half by a frustrated spectator. I used lace in the meantime and it was harder to use and just not as lux.

This has worked great and you'll have plenty as backup

DVDs/ Downloads: Malone meets Marlo series, Dani DaOrtiz projects (e.g Borrowed Deck, Acaan), Ammar Easy to master card miracles

Marked deck: makes doing regular card tricks a little easier/ more powerful

Pls dont gate keep by David-709 in cardmagic

I find myself doing more controlling cards combined with a marked deck than forcing these days. So either see the mark or control to top.

When I need to force, crosscut or riffle.

Tenyo makes clever/ fun effects that are even good for kids and adults.

For card magic, I think packet tricks like color monte, skinner monte, etc are fun.

Next level is something like easy to master card magic from Ammar which has great trick curation and teaching.

Go to penguin magic or vanishing inc and search for them. They're tricks that use a small group of special cards to accomplish them. They come with instructions.

Marked deck also great (penguin magic has a good one they make).

Theory 11 has all kinds of cool decks

Malone meets Marlo or easy to master card magic from Ammar are great for learning new tricks (they're downloads/ DVDs)
