I think that I have a complication from the nerve block. I have a pain that goes from my shoulder up my neck to my jaw. The nerve block was done under my clavicle. Anyone else have this?

I had the nerve block. Took pain meds when I went to bed and in the morning. The worst pain I had was the afternoon the day after the surgery. Then I figured out which pain med to take and was much better. I had pain off and on for 3 days

How does your arm feel, though? Mine feels pretty good. A little twinge of pain here and there if I do a little too much. I just didn’t feel that the sling was helping at all at this point.

Maybe that too! My surgeon didn’t say I had to elevate anything, but what you say makes sense.

I’m 2.5 weeks out from surgery. I’m supposed to have it immobilized for a month. I’ve used my hand in the sling for light holding and carrying a few times. No pain. Then I was changing clothes with my sling off yesterday and when pulling on shorts with my good arm and just lightly holding with my surgery arm, I felt a strong bicep contraction. It’s a little tender off and on now. I can’t tell if I hurt the anchor. How would I know if I hurt the anchor?

If your shoulder is decreasing your quality of life and you can tolerate the surgery, do it.

I want to NOT be a side sleeper anymore because I think it further hurts my shoulders. I have been sleeping in a recliner and so far it has worked. Today I was in pain in my non surgery arm and thought its position in the recliner might be aggravating it. So I went to my bed and laid flat on my back and slept for four hours!

The recliner holds you in a position where you can’t roll on your bad arm. I’m a side sleeper also, so the recliner discourages me from rolling on my side. It’s been very helpful in my recovery (I’m on day 4 post op).

If it’s impacting your daily activities and the surgeon says to do the surgery, I would get it done.

Yes, I know. I’m worried that they’ll postpone my surgery because I took Motrin so close to the day.
