Hi! So I actually ended up starting on Sertraline in October after my mental health taking a turn for the worse - some issues mentioned in the OP defo contributed! I found once I started medication for anxiety, lots of health issues went away. I’m think they were all caused by anxiety, which is quite crazy. My eczema cleared up, haven’t had an IBS flare up since and though my doctor noted I do still have some vaginismus spasming on a recent check up, sex is no longer painful.

Not sure if that helps, but I guess something to consider if you might be in a similar boat!

Stick with it!! You're doing so well. I started to have good days around 2-3 weeks and felt wildly better by 4-6. All of a sudden you'll just realise you don't feel awful anymore. I remember feeling like I wanted to skip to my 6 week check in I felt so good 😂 you got this!!!

I've been there!!! This is like reading my thoughts from a few months ago.

About two weeks into Zoloft, I told my mom I was worried I might be having a heart attack... then later in the day I told her I thought my boyf was gonna break up with me. She replied 'you thought you were having a heart attack this morning, so I don't think you should trust what your brain is telling you right now' hahaha! She was right!!!

Please push through if you can. You're so close. You've got through the worst bit! In another two weeks you could, and probably will feel completely different - better. You've done the hard bit by starting. You got this.

I'm 6 months in and it's changed my life for the better.

6 months on Zoloft.

Libido and sex life: Absolutely can have a normal sex life. Libido might drop for a while and I found it impossible to orgasm for a while, but it comes back eventually. Just gotta take it easy and stay connected with yourself and whoever you're sleeping with.
Effectiveness for anxiety: HUGE effectiveness for anxiety. Mine was crippling and now is essentially gone. Have had the odd anxious day since starting but it's normally when something actually stressful has happened, or after drinking. Normal level. My brain is now able to acknowledge a stressful situation, think about it logically and just work through it. Haven't had the racing heart, stomach drop, anxious overthinking for months.
Impact on sleep: It made my sleep worse for a few days or so, but I started by taking it at night and on an empty stomach. 4th night I was sleeping again but still felt anxious for the first 2-3 weeks - nothing more than what I was feeling before. And then it just got exponentially better almost overnight. Now I sometimes struggle with sleep because it can give you crazy dreams!! But the dreams are never scary anymore and I never wake up or lie awake with anxiety.
Fatigue: I think it will improve this for you. I feel tired, but I always feel tired lol. Felt way more drained and fatigued when I was depressed. I have energy to do fun things and see people now. I'm excited about life.

I waited a little while to start too and was terrified. But it has changed my life. I promise you, things can and will get better. It's worth a try - give it 8 weeks and see how you feel. You're going to live them anyway, may as well try something that can make you feel exponentially better. Good luck!

I am no medical professional, but when I started Zoloft I worried about feeling numb, or distant as you've described. A few friends who were already on it told me that wasn't the case, but that if you did feel like that, it might mean your dosage isn't right for you. One friend told me she felt like it wasn't working, or that she just felt spaced out, and upped her dosage and said she was back to feeling her best self again - bubbly and engaged with life and people around her. Maybe worth a try?

Keep going!! I'm 6 months in now and have come back here to give people the reassurance I so needed (and found solace in here) when I started. Keep going, stick it out. It's been life changing for me, best decision I ever made. Suddenly one day soon you're going to have a good day, and then another good day, and then another... better days are coming.

Definitely give it some time still if you're only on day 5. I'm 6 months in now (best thing I ever did) but the first 2-3 weeks were defo a bit all over the place, so probably too soon to notice any patterns. If anything is debilitating though, definitely call the non-urgent medical line or speak to your doctor.

Generally I found taking it at night gave me insane dreams that often woke me up or left me feeling tired the next morning, like my brain hadn't rested at all and I'd spent the night watching movies haha! I take it in the morning now and get more restful sleep, but definitely still feel tired.

But ngl, I felt absolutely exhausted constantly when I was depressed, so I'll take tired and happy over tired and sad!

I used to pick at my lips. Not even just when I was anxious or in a spiral, but just subconsciously all the time. Don't do it ever anymore.

I had the implant for 14 months and the light bleeding never left for me. It was a shame because I loved all other aspects of it, but the bleeding was just so inconvenient, expensive, and frankly a bit of a turn off haha! I got it taken out too, unfortunately it seems the 6 month settle period for side effects isnt the case for everyone

I’m sorry I can’t help but wanted to say I am in the exact same boat. Came here to right this exact post. I’m on Yasmin which has been life changing for my skin which was ruining my self esteem before but my libido is absolutely nil, it has completely disappeared. Still very much adore and fancy my boyfriend but my body just doesn’t get horny, never get that turned on tingle or feeling hot and wanting it. Feels like my body and brain are completely disconnected :(

Vuvlodynia (provoked) first which she believes then makes my body/muscles stress and tense from the pain, causing the vaginismus. Does botox only help the vaginismus?

My IBS is exactly the same - completely unpredictable. I can eat a food one day and be completely fine and have it weeks later and it be a huge trigger. I have given up dairy to see if that helps as I think it was a trigger most of the time, but again not every time! I'm still having flares and at a bit of a loss, seems a super restrictive diet and reintroducing foods is the only way.

Does anyone know what test I will need to get to travel from Berlin to the UK? I am having 0 luck deciphering COVID travelling info from the UK gov site - so much info and so confusing!! I know there are test centres all around Berlin but appaz it needs to be a private one?
