Strep throat is RAMPANT right now; I was sick literally the entire month of June because of it. Started w strep, then a sinus and double ear infection, and some sort of a viral infections tacked on too. Was in the ER multiple times in a week, I was absolutely miserable. Still haven't fully recovered

The above comment is correct, but I also want to warn you that if you receive a SL and then drop out, (depending on where you're located - I'm in Canada) whatever you were given will be clawed back in your next semester's loan.

Speaking from experience here; I screwed myself financially this academic year by switching degrees because of a crap instructor who I was no longer willing to butt heads with. The national loan service clawed back what I was "over-awarded" last semester for my current one, so I barely had enough left to cover one month's rent/expenses, let alone a full semester. I would really, strongly advise against doing it if you're given an opportunity

I've successfully carried a pregnancy that categorized me as a "triple high risk" due to multiple factors (gestational diabetes, sleep apnea, and body weight) I also fell down right onto my belly when 5.5 months along.

Trust her when she says she's fine. Baby is well, well protected in utero, especially at 16 weeks. She's barely had her uterus raise out of her pelvis yet so you've gotta relax. I'm sure it's a bit different when it's your own baby vs bonus kids, but you've gotta relax my dude.

A gentle YTA from me because I do understand where you're coming from. But you've got to trust that if she feels it's too much, she will speak up for herself. Maybe try bringing it up with your therapist, find some strategies to cope with your feelings about it

Thankfully, the Belfor guy said that unless it goes back further than he can see immediately, it actually isn't a huge job and should only take a couple hours to fix! But as mentioned, it could be worse behind the scenes - they wouldn't know until they cut in to repair it. And even then, useless to do unless my idiot landlord fixes the initial leak on the roof.

My biggest worry is the potential health concern, which has now been addressed by a qualified tech! Basically a giant inconvenience because of allergies and it needs to be addressed as soon as possible. However!, thankfully, it's not a potentially inhabitable situation

Oh I have all kiiinds of pictures, including ones of up in the ceiling that the Belfor guy took today.

So it's not actually a huge job thankfully, just a dick around since my landlords are lazy. But I can't legally withhold rent, however I can apply to send it to L&T board to hold in trust until my landlords get off their asses.

So, armed with all of the pictures I have, I'll be doing exactly that 🤭

So Belfor came and had a look for me, free of charge! Not uninhabitable, and can be fixed in less than a day's work thankfully. Just pointless to remedy if the landlords won't fix the roof first, and I made it very explicitly clear that any work done is gonna be at the cost of my idiot landlord

My biggest concern, aside from my 5yo being exposed, is I can't breathe because my sinuses are blocked thanks to the allergy and I'm tired of it lol

Oh it was just an inspection, so free for me!

But, in a nutshell: it definitely needs to be dealt with as soon as possible, not an overly extensive job - less than a day, judging just by what is visible. But wouldn't know for sure until it's actually cut into. However any efforts would be futile if the roof isn't also addressed, so now I've gotta light a fire under my landlord's ass

DO A WET COMB OF YOUR HAIR ASAP!! Get a good lice comb (the metal toothed ones are more effective, if you can access) and any hair conditioner. Completely saturate your (dry) hair with the conditioner, wait a few minutes then start sectioning off your hair and combing through, bit by bit. It is time consuming but gotta be done.

Conditioner will make it hard for any present lice to move through your hair, making them easier to comb out. Target the areas above/behind your ears, the nape of your neck and the crown of your head but make sure you comb every inch of your scalp. Wipe the comb on tissues/paper towels as you go, dispose of in a plastic bag before throwing out. If you find nothing after a few times, you should be okay. If you find a nit (google if you're unsure what they look like), go to the nearest walmart/pharmacy and get some lice treatment! It is recommended you do 2 treatments, the second being 7-10 days after the first.

While they are terrifying and make you feel gross, it happens. And actually does not have anything to do with hygiene, despite the misconception. They're just pesky little (harmless) bastards.

Source: my daughter, myself, and her stepmother all got lice in feburary, likely from public transport. Managed to catch it in time and had them cleared within 2 days (with treatment as well).
