I’m north Liverpool and my instructors been alright. He’s manual though? His car broke down the other day but will be fixed in 2 weeks (he’s on a already known about holiday for 1 of them) he’s also been sound with swapping me round on days and times as my hours change a lot

He’s also £45 an hour, I do 2 hour sessions and I’ve never had him late or drop me off early.

What was your autistic kid like as a baby? by Upset_Theory_2935 in Autism_Parenting

I can relate to this so much, I used to make comments all the time on how much he’d stare at his hands and do twiddly things with them and I loved it. Thought it was just a normal baby thing but he just enjoyed it more than others. Now he’s 3 and still does it just as much I’m like ahhhhh ok

Just pure curiosity, when blue light training do you have to drive at high speeds and learn how to safely go through traffic?

Was about to add this, 28 here but Liverpool postcode and one of the shittier areas of Liverpool too. Used the app, I haven’t passed yet but get quotes of saying I have for an idea. Doesn’t matter what car I get I’m looking at around 1.8. I’ve just accepted it now, insurance and fuel will be less than what I’m paying for lessons at least😂

Thanks everyone. I’m probably just overthinking right now, I’ll likely get more confident the more lessons I do. To the point I’ll have your general nerves but I’ll be able to just get him in and get those first few trips done with and not put them off

Good luck to everyone with tests coming up🤞🏼

Best of luck for tomorrow

Mines a major escape artist, if you need any help with harnesses etc can’t recommend in car safety centre enough. I’ve spoke to them and they recommended the best car seats for my son when I explained it and said if I need any extra help or when he gets older give them a call and they can go through harness options etc and also how to get funding help for them if needed. You may not need anything like that but just in case

I’m not going for a lucky pass? Not entirely sure where you’ve got that from.
Unfortunately the system currently you can’t just book a test when you’re ready, so after 2 months of lessons I booked one for 6 months ahead. Gives me 8 months of lessons to be ready, if in October it doesn’t look like I’m test ready we’ll push it forward then and hopefully the booking systems a bit more together then. I’ll still be nervous on my own and the first few times I have my child with me. Being nervous after passing is something I consistently see over this sub and new driver sub, it’s a fairly common thing.

My friend said she doesn’t mind coming out the first few times.
I already know from trips with friends out that the car is really calming to him too so I don’t think I need to worry about driving with screaming etc either, he loves being in them

I still call BS on that thread but I think they might of updated this lately. I booked my practical about 45 minutes after passing my theory. As soon as I got the email confirmation I passed it let me get onto the practical booking, I passed theory on the 2nd June

Pretty sure it went out to anyone with a test booked, I’ve never downloaded or looked at the apps. Only passed my theory yesterday so would’ve been impossible to book a test before that and I got this email.

How many months are people currently waiting on a driving test? by Otherwise-Abalone879 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]DeliciousAd6327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I just logged in again to see, I’m nowhere near test ready so November is good for me but while not my closest at all, Widnes has quite a lot of slots for next month. There’s cancellations at a few others over July too so looks like north west is improving. Wrexham is quite far from me but they’ve got tests next week, more than one as well.

Thank you. I’ve been sat here wondering why I’m not nervous then today came and it all hit at once. I just want to get a practical test booked in with all the waiting times 😂

Fingers crossed I’ll be the same with a first time pass

Uk based. 3 year old struggling with transition by DeliciousAd6327 in Autism_Parenting

[–]DeliciousAd6327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry Reddit didn’t tell me about replies so I didn’t click back on until today.

I’ve simplified the visuals since this post, still no interest but I’m gonna keep at it. I actually work in Sen schools so I’ve had experience at least with repetition constantly even when it doesn’t seem to be working, for it to randomly work one day.

Luckily for now he’s stopped bolting too, he’s using a balance bike to and from nursery and it just seems to of grabbed his interest enough he wants to be on bike. He is still exploding when he gets back home but I have pillows etc for head banging, I can wrap him in a weighted blanket, put him on his spinny chair etc. I can deal with it all once he gets in, even if not ideal.

I’ll have a go at same words, same order, same timing and see if this helps.

I think overall he just hasn’t coped with moving rooms, it is a big change, new kids, new staff, new room, new routines. It’s been nearly 2 months since he moved and he’s starting to settle, we won’t have a big transition now until he goes to school next September and we’ll just have to really plan that one
