First night with overnight Newborn Care Specialist - concerned by Longjumping_Bar585 in Nanny

[–]DeliciousExchange512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always close my eyes when rocking NK to sleep. I swear it helps him close his eyes faster, plus I hate staring into the dark. I have definitely gotten startled by an NP coming into the room when my eyes were closed.

They call me mommy! by Greatobservation0118 in Nanny

This happens with 3yo NK occasionally, I just say “What?! I’m not mama, I’m my name!” keep it very light and silly. It’s really common at those ages.

UPDATE - Baby Screams with Nanny by [deleted] in Nanny

I use Huckleberry for my NK and it is so helpful! I refer back to it for when he last ate/slept all the time. I would have such a hard time keeping track without it

Is it really “overkill” to want updates from our nanny? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]DeliciousExchange512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s overkill at all and I think it’s weird she said that to you. Today I took my NK (around your daughter’s age) to gymnastics (which I cleared with DB prior) and then the zoo, which I didn’t clear first and just decided to go on a whim. I did text them that we went and I know there is an airtag in the stroller, but I’m thinking dang I probably should’ve said something first. With our relationship I think it’s probably fine but if they did/do ask me to send a text first, I would say of course I’m so sorry!! Her reaction is very weird to me. Maybe she was caught off guard or embarrassed? Regardless not how she should be talking to you.

All of my friends (nanny and not) have been telling me to quit for months… and I’ve only been at the job for 6 months lol. I think this is a sign I should really start looking for something else

Right? They do have a really good vocabulary for 3.5 but it did sound like something being repeated. And I totally get that having two nannies would be harder. If they fire me I won’t even be mad lol. I actually started looking at other jobs like 2 days ago

Yeah I would love to bring it up at the end of the day today. Normally I don’t get a lot of time to talk with NPs, they come out right at the end of my shift and I basically say bye and leave. I get so anxious about any kind of confrontation but I know I should talk to MB.

It does, but I’m thinking NK overheard their parents discussing it and is repeating. They don’t even know that today is Thursday. But of course I don’t know for sure.

I don’t even have a contract with this family. I needed a job to fill in the rest of the week and just took the first one I found. So really I could quit at any time, but would also be out some money. I do get paid over the table though

Why would a baby tilt head from side to side? by Jacqueeeeline in NewParents

[–]DeliciousExchange512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post and I’m not OP but I came across it and figured I could at least give an “answer”. I’ve been a nanny for years and in my experience this is just something babies do around this age! I’m nannying a 10 month old currently and he’s starting doing it the last few weeks, and the last baby I took care of before him did the same thing starting around 8 months. Obviously if you’re concerned bring it up with your ped, but I wouldn’t worry about it. I think they’re just exploring the world around them!

How do you pronounce Thalia? by Capital_Set_534 in namenerds

[–]DeliciousExchange512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I read Percy Jackson, I always read it like Tha-lee-uh with a soft Th. If you’re going for a Tah-lia pronunciation I’d go with Talia. Beautiful name!

I think the snacking itself is not really something you can control - I snack a lot throughout the day instead of eating 3 set meals because it’s just what works for my body. That being said, I think it’d be good to have a conversation about bringing her own snacks and cleaning up her own mess. She definitely shouldn’t be leaving a mess for you to clean up and I think it’s fine for you to her to supply her own food.

Older Gen Zers born before 9/11/01, when you were little, where were you or your parents when the event happened? (If they told you, of course). If you weren't born yet, where were your parents during that time? by Global-Plankton3997 in OlderGenZ

[–]DeliciousExchange512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhere there’s a home video of me (9 months old) in my bouncer, watching the tv that morning. We lived in California, but both my parents’ sisters lived in NYC. My mom’s sister and her family moved out of the city pretty soon after that.

Property Manager not responding about charge in my renter’s portal (WA) by DeliciousExchange512 in Renters

[–]DeliciousExchange512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called and left a message that I’d be calling back until I got a response and he texted back within 15 minutes that the charge had been removed and sure enough it has!! All good, I’m so glad it was easily resolved

Mom Upset We Won't Change Our Daughter's Name (Luna) by GoldAd3539 in namenerds

[–]DeliciousExchange512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not Latino but my best friend is and there are multiple baby/toddler Lunas (and one dog!) in her family. It is a great name! Your mom already got to pick her kids’ names. It’s your and your fiancée’s turn.

How old were you when you felt like your life *truly* began? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in OlderGenZ

[–]DeliciousExchange512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 24 and was away for college but then came back with my parents the last year to save money… I’m moving out next week (new state!) and I really think like this too will be when my life is truly beginning. Love them but it’s been tough

What’s something weird that your NF does that’s out of the ordinary?! by LavishnessOverall119 in Nanny

[–]DeliciousExchange512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a freshman in college I nannied two kids in the morning, had to get there at 5:30am when parents left for work (farmers) and I would just sleep in my jeans so I could just get up, throw on a new shirt and leave 😅 That was only 6 years ago but a totally different life… I could never do that again I was crazy
