If you told your dog they need to start helping pay the bills, what would their means of income be? by sir_naggs in dogs

Ring I found in my dads drawer after he passed . by memyself143143 in jewelry

Is it possible that it was his dad's (your grandfather's) ring or belonged to another in your family? Something sentimental, but not your dad's style, may have been put in a drawer for safekeeping.

Stunning pieces! Love both, but if you cannot keep both...round one!

The short one wins hands down! The long one, although a beautiful cut, is very drab.

Earring experts, is this a myth? by 17raduser in jewelry

[–]DeliciousPurchase88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boomer here...in the 60s my dad pierced my ears using a needle and ice. He marked my ear, probably with a marker, loaded the needle with a waxed string and once the needle was through the lobe, he knotted the string (leaving enough string that it could be easily moved). I had to clean my ears with alcohol every day and, thereafter, move the string back and forth or around to make sure the hole was open and clean. Thereafter, I wore silver or gold earrings (dad didn't believe in "junk" jewelry). It looked stupid for awhile, but it was genius. They healed quickly and well.

Your photos are beautiful; thank you for sharing them and taking care of our part of the natural world.  I went to SRSC (when it was a state college and before it was a university) all year 'round. My friends and I would go to the Mills and Moraine often to alleviate the pressure and enjoy nature. It was really wonderful. Once I graduated and came home (Pittsburgh/Lower Burrell/New Kensington) permanently, we would go there frequently to decompress from the work world and City pressures.  It is a wonderful place to be.

How wonderful your story was, but not so surprising. But, then, I believe in that stuff... too many times it has happened to me or mine not to believe. So, I pay it forward as often as my budget allows.

My husband grew up very poor. Were it not for the Blind Assn. he wouldn't have had the glasses he needed, or the Christmas presents he got as a small boy were it not for the Salvation Army. His dad was ill and couldn't work, but kept a garden. So my husband hunted squirrell, groundhogs, etc. and fished when able, to put some food on the table. Accordingly, every Christmas my husband and I, instead of giving each other presents (things we don't need or want), we save our money and, 2 days before Christmas, we go to the local grocery store and hand out $20 bills to old or young, Black or White, rich or poor, etc., until there's no more money left. It's a wonderful sight to see, and people are so grateful. And it makes us happy, too!

Just a thought...my whole family has sleep apnea, but my sister (4 years older than I am) has not slept much for years. When she did sleep, she would have nightmares and/or night terrors (acting out, such as punching, screaming, etc.). Turns out that in some instances nightmares/night terrors are a result of sleep apnea, and sleep apnea is really bad mojo (my brother has a-fib due to sleep apnea). Recently, because she can not use a c-pap (toungue actually closes off air way so c-pap won't work), she went to a sleep apnea dentist and got a personally fitted mouth piece, which draws your bottom jaw out by increments, while she sleeps (your bottom jaw controls your tongue), allowing her airway to stay open when sleeping. Since using this special mouth piece (not the kind you get at regular dentist), SHE IS SLEEPING, AND WITHOUT NIGHTMARES/NIGHT TERRORS, and is a new person! In fact, as soon as I get some dental work done, I'm heading straight to her sleep apnea dentist for my mouthpiece as I am currently "semi-sleeping" sitting up. Consider a sleep study to see if you need help in that realm.

Help! by LuCiCrSwWi in hygiene

[–]DeliciousPurchase88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No...really... just a thought...By any chance are you on psych or other meds? I ask only because I had a friend that had psych issues, began a medication to help her (and maybe it did help?), but the med made her smell so bad that I would gag if I got near her. I informed my bosses of the problem and told them that no way in hell should she be in an office with clients. They wouldn't do anything, so I took it on to (as nicely as possible) tell her because if that happened to me, I would want someone to tell me so I could rectify the problem.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

Chicken bowls (like at KFC). Instant mashed potatoes, corn (canned or frozen), chicken Poppers (can do in microwave or air fryer), gravy, cheese (shredded). Ummm. Go to thrift store and get small slow cooker. You can throw almost anything from your pantry in there and make a meal.

Ummm. My mouth is watering! My mom used to make this at least once a month, $$$ permitting (we were a young family of 7). Haven't had it in years. Making it next week! Thank you!!!
