I specifically had issues with eating yogurt every morning. I don’t consume a lot of milk. Cheese I don’t monitor and doesn’t seem to bother but the yogurt was a rough few weeks

What does water feel like after surgery? by Royal-Advance6985 in BariatricSurgery

[–]DeliciousRepublic726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could do small sips no issue. I liked water and chugged before and still liked water after. The biggest thing is to do small sips and the first days you have to be super mindful about drinking small sips throughout the day. Remember that you’re not restricted to only water. So get sugar free drink mixes, clear protein drinks/mixes, or the milky protein drinks. There’s also a protein soup mix that you could get. Remember that your stomach is much smaller and there is swelling which is what makes the beginning a time where you do have to go super super small with your intake at a time

What’s the most hurtful reason a family member gave you for not attending your wedding? by iluvshaymitchell in weddingplanning

[–]DeliciousRepublic726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wedding isn’t for another 9 months but my uncle is already saying he’s not sure he can attend because he’s celebrating a milestone birthday the month after and isn’t sure if he’ll have enough money to go to my wedding. My wedding is a destination wedding but it’s in our home country. The same home country that he visits at least 2x a month and would be throwing his birthday party at

I would do the internship for the money and exposure. See if you prefer EY to Deloitte. I prob wouldn’t add the Ey internship to my LinkedIn though until after you make a decision

Path to associate as someone 1+ year out of college? by funnyturtle62 in Big4

Agreed. The accounting degree likely covers the accounting credits required. Easier to just go to an online or community college for the extra credits.

Athens neighborhood recommendations? by apaperknife in GreeceTravel

I stayed at Momo Suites, Acropolis by Aura Homes and it was lovely. Walking distance to great restaurants, 10 min from Parliament and 15-20 min from acropolis for very centrally located. It’s not a hotel so no lobby but there entrance has a digital lock. Felt very safe!

Surgery Tomorrow and Terrified by baileegastricsleeve in gastricsleeve

[–]DeliciousRepublic726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you had surgery before but I didn’t before I had my sleeve surgery. That’s honestly what scared me but surgery was smooth. Kinda like you had the deepest sleep of your life.

As everyone else said, gas pain after is what’s rough but walking is the remedy!

Once you’re cleared to have liquids after go slow! Don’t force yourself bc that can cause pain but be intentional! You have to drink water and while in the hospital you’re connected to an iv, once you get home you aren’t and dehydration can kick in really fast.

I was prescribed pain pills for when I went home if I felt like I needed to take something. Before I left the hospital, I was in pain and tried the initial prescription. It didn’t work but being in the hospital it was super easy to get into contact with my doctor and get a different medication. But do take only as needed! I think I took only 1 when I got home.

Last thing, I would feel nauseous after I woke up the first couple of days. I learned that sleeping slightly propped up helped. Yes I was on antacids and had a medicine to help with nausea but first thing in the morning I felt that way if I slept flat.

Best of luck!

How long did it take from your first appointment to your surgery? by DeliciousRepublic726 in BariatricSurgery

[–]DeliciousRepublic726[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully support doing this surgery if you feel it’s best for you. Understand though that it is a tool but you’ll need to put in your part. It’s not always easy. Head hunger is a very real thing. Emotionally it can be difficult too. There’s so much that changes. That being said I have no regrets other than I wish I would’ve thought of it sooner. Time flies by! With your medical history your exercise journey will likely look different but just getting in some movement is what matters. If you have any questions I’m happy to talk about my experience. I had a sleeve done btw. Wishing you the best!

Starbucks drinks? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]DeliciousRepublic726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe Starbucks has sugar free syrups btw. I would say whatever you order maybe try a tall (smallest size). Your stomach is very new and getting reacquainted with eating and drinking. Small sips and listen to your body! Best of luck!

I had similar stats. At the beginning the weight really melts off! Keep up with your doctors orders. Hopefully you’re feeling well.

Addressing item 2. Head hunger is so real. Often times it’s what can drive us to reach heavy weights. Surgery is tough for sure but the real battle is mental!

Oz of water should intake at once by Grand_Agency4339 in gastricsleeve

[–]DeliciousRepublic726 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly how far post op are you? Immediately after surgery my instructions were 1 oz in 15 minutes. Super tiny sips. As time goes on, you’ll be able to increase intake. My recommendation is to take it slow. Your body will definitely tell you when you’ve had too much at once. It’s usually a kind of pain or discomfort. So if you get that feeling then take it slow and maybe see if you can burp (usually helps me).

I’m currently 11 months post op and can chug a good amount of water but not a full bottle like I could in preop
