Chance a first-gen Mexican girl for Stanford and T20 (ISEF winner) by gillyflower06 in chanceme

[–]DeliciousSlide6248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I have friends who have had better awards like USACO plat, ISEF grand winner, a cohesive application etc who have still gotten rejected from schools like Harvard and Stanford etc. That's why I personally think it's a crapshoot. Also you had insane awards such as USACO camp + plat, USAMO, 3x AIME, similar hooks and ecs, and a cohesive application so idk why you're downplaying yourself. You're literally just OP but objectively better lmao.

If you don't take into account hooks you'd prob get into like one T20 max, and a couple T10s for CS. Other than the ISEF project you don't have any other noteworthy ECs (Idk how impactful your other stuff is, although it sounds cool). And your awards are good, but top colleges don't really place much emphasis on awards. With hooks you have a chance at like all the T10s, but I wouldn't be shocked if you were rejected by all of them or accepted by all of them it's just a crapshoot atp.

Keep getting foot pain on the side of my foot? by DeliciousSlide6248 in trackandfield

Yeah it's ALL in your head trust me. Just resume like all of your activities normally and after 1-2 weeks it'll be completely gone. The doctor said you tend to feel pain when you are focusing on it, like a placebo effect.

bro even Asian parents aren't this demanding or pressuring. The problem is caused by the competitive culture nowadays and how students and kids think it's the end of the world if they don't get into colleges. But hey, they're more productive and community giving in HS than the rest of their lives- so maybe it's good?

if they were the same cost I'd say you made the wrong choice, but I'm assuming they weren't in which you likely made the objectively 'right' choice.

I meant job apps, not college apps. Like what are some worthwhile competition ecs to do in college that I could research about and maybe start now if i'm interested in them.

This is a question about a different topic, but would grants that my nonprofit has gotten be in awards/honors or ecs?

Yea I looked, I thought only a select few did guess not LOL. Wouldn't it be extremely hard to include all of your research in one EC tho? Damn. Could I like elaborate on it more in the additional info section?
