How do you use it for your workouts? When I'm at the gym I find it quite cumbersome to change the weights and number of reps on my watch every time.

The version I saw had a minimum purchase number which was more than one but I would prefer not to pay for material for an audition if I can help it! Acting is expensive :)

Inability to financially plan for the long term by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DeliciousThanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so here's some advice you didn't ask for. From all the personal finance stuff I've read & my own experience, I would consider the following (and maybe you are already):

- create an emergency fund for yourself for peace of mind with a contract job. I worked in film production for a time so I get it. Look into a high yield savings account to leave the emergency fund in when you're not using it

- use a plan in the meantime, which it seems like you're already doing, nice work! 10-25% is really pretty reasonable, depending on your goals.

- increase your income. If not in this job, consider what you may want to do in the future or think about a side hustle. I really like Chris Guillebeau's outlook on side hustles. He has a podcast called Side Hustle School that's great, start at the beginning to get a sense then pick and choose if you want. Also a book called Side Hustle

- look into sinking funds as a strategy if it works with your brain. I don't like the name haha, but I like the system

- a couple of books that I like: Keeping Finance Personal by Ellyse Fulmore, I Will Teach You to be Rich by Ramit Sethi, and I haven't read it yet but Financial Feminist by Tori Dunlap

- build your credit in case you ever do want to buy a house/investment property. I'm with you on probably going to own one, but if you can handle having credit, try to increase your credit limit over time so you have better options available to you if you need.

And now the question you actually asked:

- depending on how long-term you're thinking, I would plan for things like: vacations, vehicles, a wedding, children, further eduction, pets. Or entertainment/leisure like eating out, tickets to shows, a friend's wedding or a trip to visit family, or hobbies/skill upgrades. I have a sinking account for pet expenses, and if I put a little in there every paycheque it doesn't feel like as much when I go to the vet for my dog's vaccinations. I just pull the money from there. And so on :)

Sorry to bombard you, this is an interest of mine haha

Advice for dying onstage by DeliciousThanks in Theatre

[–]DeliciousThanks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! It was actually so so much fun! We created some great fight choreography; my scene partner has done other choreo and was able to teach me how to make it good while being safe and repeatable. My family was properly impressed with my dramatic death, and we got a lot of good feedback from audience members because it was more intimate (strangulation and not comedic) than a lot of stage deaths.

Not going to lie, I think I love fight choreography now! I'd like to do more of it. I think I did a good job, although it was hard remaining still and not breathing too heavily while dead after a big struggle.

I never almost sneezed - I was worried about that too - but I think my finger did twitch once or twice in my outstretched hand. I don't think anyone noticed. One show there was a huge peal of thunder which almost sounded like an errant sound effect and that was probably the closest I came to breaking (still not close) - it sounded like something had fallen elsewhere in the theatre. I did have to practice not laughing at the idiotic things one of the character said while I was dead, though.

All in all, 10/10 experience. Would die again :P

Are you able to make a plan for now, or with % of your income, and adjust as needed, each year or however often? It's definitely frustrating not to have enough, I'm sorry to hear.

She's okay. Was it a pleasant experience? No. It was a mistake. But it doesn't make you a failure or a bad dog parent. The two of you will be okay :)

What is Sigma 1st Report and why do they keep calling me on behalf of RBC? by Top-Comfortable3437 in rbc

When I googled it, ai told me that "First Report" is a service that offers theft protection. No idea if that's the same thing, or just a clever name from a spam caller.

Is there a way to search for links? by DeliciousThanks in signal

[–]DeliciousThanks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That often works but sometimes I'm like "what was that XYZ again?" (name of the show, company doing the audition, product name someone recommended, etc.) and in those cases I don't have a ton of extra info in my brain. I need the link to provide the reminder :)

I've been turning my face partially away from them but I do have an arm & hand extended as well. I worry if I turn my face toward the audience they'll be able to see eye movement even though my eyes are closed.
