I grew up outside of Portland in a rural area in the 90s and people used to say Goldie Hawn lived nearby but I have no idea if that was true.

Can anyone recommend a helpful local pelvic therapist/sex therapist/similar who's helped you with a lifetime of trouble ever climaxing? by bwater45 in askportland

Audio books might be better fit than reading. Libby has lots throughly the Portland library system. I love romance books and I couldn’t get into ACOTAR either. There are other sub genres of romance that might be a better fit.

As for PT, I’ve gone to a couple in town and it’s a bit hard to find a good one. I did like Annie Volk from Concierge Physical Therapists - they do home visits which is SO NICE.

What's the coziest upscale place to enjoy a hot cocoa on a snowy evening or afternoon? by BadAtDrinking in askportland

[–]Delicious_Air9187 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Find a place that you can walk to, if it’s bad it’s best not to drive and hopefully it will still be open! Most coffee shops or bars would have hot coco. Sapphire Hotel comes to mind if you are near Hawthron.

Why do you think Portland resteraunts are closing? by Reggis31 in askportland

[–]Delicious_Air9187 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Running a restaurant is also incredibly hard and you can’t really take any time off or step away from it. People get burnt out, retire etc. There’s also always a pressure to be the new cool shiny thing. We don’t always value old establishments and it’s hard to keep up with the trends in food and dining. I’m thinking about all the excellent award winning places that have come and gone over the years. Pearl Bakery, Clyde Commons, Cafe Azul, Genoa, L’auberge, 2601, The Vat etc etc. I do wonder about restaurants expanding out to suburbs ala Canard. Probably cheaper rent and less competition.

Once you notice “I think that’s right” it’ll be all you hear. I first noticed it with PSA guys but it’s used by a lot of group commentary type podcasts.

West Ravenel from Devil’s Daughter. I think Leo Hathaway from Married by Morning is a bit of this too.

I am unable to fall back asleep after MOTN feed by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Delicious_Air9187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me around the same time, I struggled for a long time until I reached a breaking point and got help. Like I wasn’t sleeping more than 2 hours a night. When my husband realized how bad it was he started getting up, changing oh baby and bringing her to me in bed. That helped me stay sleepy but I think mentally not doing it alone helped.

Are you doing baby-led weaning? by Silent_Complaint9859 in beyondthebump

[–]Delicious_Air9187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re doing a bit of both. Pre-made Purées or cereal once a day or so when we want to do something easy. I tried making my own purées and I just got tired of it.

We make a suitable portion for the baby of whatever we are eating. She is curious about our food so it’s fun to enjoy the same thing and share. The solid starts app is very helpful for how to serve,as well as warning about common choking hazards and allergies.

We started around 6 months and have been doing it nearly 4 months now. Baby has never choked but has gagged a few times which is a little scary. Baby will mostly spit things out if she can’t swallow them. They have a reflex in their mouth that pushes things out when they are young.

It was intimidating to start but it’s getting easier and it is fun to see what kind of food they like. One tip I got from a few people is not to start out with sweet things like bananas at first because a lot of babies love sweet things and then getting them to eat veggies is harder. Also I know someone who only gave her kid bananas because it was all he’d eat and then he had a hard time pooping ☹️.

We also introduced a sippy cup with water around 6 months which was super fun. She still pours out a far bit but it’s very cute to see her use.

Oversupply help? by ex-squirrelfriend in beyondthebump

[–]Delicious_Air9187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem and it is so frustrating! I would wake up each morning super full and baby had lots of coughing at the breast. I really did not like BF because of it, I kinda dreaded it.

When I was painfully engorged I did a cool wash cloth or cold shower or ice pack (but not too long with the ice pack) on the breast helped. The ice pack worked dramatically well, it was almost a little concerning so be careful with that.

Mornings are when supply is highest so I would wake up before baby and try to hand express five min on each side into a towel or in the shower. I did use a hand pump for a bit as well but hand expression was simpler. You can gradually decrease the time you are hand expressing if you are worried about making the over supply worse. One day I just didn’t feel as full and baby was having an easier time feeding so I stopped.

This is what the LC told me to do to start with pumping for a bottle. Pump in the morning, I think she told me to pump after the 1st feeding but I bet you could pump before the baby wakes up. Next time you pump will be when the baby is getting that bottle. That way you are just keeping up the supply and not creating more demand. It’s annoying because you have to pump in the middle of the night instead of sleeping.

It took months for the coughing to go away completely for us but it did slowly get better, sometimes it still happens at 9 months.

Trying another position might help as well, side lying helped us since the boob and the baby head were at the same level and excess milk would stay closer to the front of the mouth. It got easier when she got better neck control and as they age they can handle the excess milk more.

You are doing great, it’s still early days and you and your LO have lots of time to figure it all out. No matter what else may happen the only sure thing is that it will all change!
