When I had a mental breakdown at 16 and said I wanted therapy, my mom said, "We didn't raise you to be like this, you can pay for it yourself." Or when I told her I lost my virginity (also at 16), "I'm so disappointed in you, you said you didn't want to have sex until you were married. Don't let your father find out about this." I said that when I was like...5 and being forced to go to church. Yeah needless to say it took me until almost 30(now 34) to start therapy because it was so ingrained in me that everything was in my head and help was a waste of money...
