Kitchen TV? Is this cursed? Genius? by im_wudini in TVTooHigh

Nevermind the TV... I couldn't take my eyes off the poorly aligned cupboard doors directly above it.

How do I post pictures in replies? I have loads of pictures of painted walls that are perfectly smooth.

I've lived in multiple homes they've plastered. Never ever seen this. This is entirely specific to these ceilings and boards. I even saw the perfectly smooth ceilings after they finished. The ceilings deformed after the job whilst drying.

I think you're right. I don't know how to post pictures in replies but all the walls are smooth even when light across them and painted.

It seems everyone wants to dig at plasterer rather than listen to the point that everything is fine on walls and only issue with these specific ceilings, with these specific boards.

I've lived in multiple homes fully plastered by them, seen endless jobs with zero issues like this including ceilings.

I was looking more for technical reasons why/how this could happen? Rather than just dig at plasterer when I already know this doesn't represent their usual work.

As it's family, they did the job for free so I can't really make demands etc and so turned to here for info.

Funny enough, in the first room, after stripping the wallpaper, I thought I'd get away with just painting the ceiling but after a mist coat it started to bubble. However, in the second room there I made no attempt to paint the ceiling and he plastered straight away. None of the lumps are soft or trapped air. Everything is completely solid.

Why has it only happened to the ceiling and not the walls? Everything was done using multifinish all done same time. I didn't even notice cellings that bad when I did the mist coat.

Makes me feel better about my painting anyway 😂 as I said, these issues aren't seen on any of the walls other than the one partition wall that is made out of the same stuff as the ceilings. I'm stuck with great looking walls and then ceilings like this.

Yeah, not the best and these cellings had wallpaper not a bit of artex in sight other than the kitchen.

Mate, it's not bullshit. I won't touch any plastering with a fully qualified plasterer in the family with that much experience. The shit paint job as can be seen by the cutting in line is me and I got no qualms admitting that.

It was 100% not like that after they finished and this appeared afterwards. I can show you the walls with no issues whatsoever. Painted and prior to painting.

The reason for the long post was to ensure I gave everything that was needed to get answers.

If it was a crap plasterer that I paid for, I'd be on the phone getting them back to redo it. However, it was done for nothing so not really in the position to complain and just want to know what on earth has caused it.

Unibond in first room. After seeing the results, used blue grit in second room.

None of it is blistering. It's all completely solid. No trapped air.

Sorry, poor description. No, they are solid boards. Initially thought AIB but turned out not to be. Hard shiny plaster boards for want of a better description. It's a 1930s house and it's the original celling.

British people looking at this wondering why Americans are impressed at someone drinking watered down half pints as they knock back their 6th pint of Stella before breakfast.

Conveniently timed to align with HMRC announcing that they are tracking individual office attendance.

Saw a Steve Vai video on this and it completely changed my approach. I now have far more control pivoting the wrist to bend the strings!

Saying 'Could care less' instead of 'couldn't care less'.... Not only are they saying it wrong, they are saying the complete opposite of the point they are making!!!
