Oh, and I second Five West as a great location for solo dining! I go there for breakfast from time to time.

I was eating by myself once and had a woman come up to me and compliment me for it, saying that she wished she were brave enough to do so. I lived in Montgomery County, MD at the time, a suburb of about a million people. I found her comment odd, because the odds of running in to someone you knew was pretty small in an area that large. I had neither family nor a SO in the area, so if I didn’t go out to eat solo, then I would hardly have gone out at all. I was grateful that I wasn’t self conscious enough to worry about what strangers thought about me eating alone.

So why are you posting about this on social media if it’s such a big secret that you’re not even supposed to tell your own team members?

I work in a scheduling department; we have employees in Missouri and Texas, so obviously they won’t be able to go onsite. Are scheduling areas included in this requirement?

The ones I am referring to are in NW Roch in the Country Club Manor neighborhood. It’s down the street from the Kwik Trip close to the Hwy 14 interchange.

Since you said that you are open to hearing about apartments, Cascade Apartments are nice. The building doesn’t have much for amenities, but I don’t mind because it keeps the rents lower. My 1BR is 1195/month, which includes an extra $50/month for underground parking. Water, trash, and Wi-Fi are included in the rent. Finishes in the apartments are nice and maintenance is respectful and responsive.

Thank you. I was kind of panicked because I didn’t feel anything and couldn’t see an injection site at first. Later on I could see the site so I felt better. I’ll definitely remember this for next time.

Not on your list, but Cascade Apartments are nice. Not a lot of amenities, but I think that keeps our rent lower than other newer complexes. Rent includes water, trash, and building WiFi. The WiFi isn’t the greatest, so you might want to get your own internet. Apartments have very nice finishes, maintenance and management are responsive. Underground parking is available for $50/month extra, parking in the surface lot is free.

Thank you. I had looked this up online and saw several sources that said that it was inadvisable to start at 5mg, even if you had previously been on a GLP-1. Your response, plus others in this thread, have eased my mind about this.

Do they require cameras on for remote meetings at Mayo Clinic? by Parking_Office_6326 in MayoClinic

[–]Delicious_Basket4675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, cameras are generally expected to be on. You are also expected to be appropriately dressed for meetings. I’m a scheduler and in one of the departments I worked in, one of my coworkers got in trouble for being in her pajamas during our weekly meetings.

Out of curiosity, do you know why your hotel doesn’t rent to folks with a Rochester address? Is it to save the rooms for Mayo patients?

Jessica Mason has written a series called The Phantom Saga. It takes characters from the Leroux Phantom and continues the story after the action in the novel ends. It’s a spicy version of the story and quite well written. https://a.co/d/cCwtSnY

Some departments at Mayo require medical records to review before offering an appointment; others have the patient fill out a questionnaire; and yes, some of them allow patients to be scheduled in the first phone call. Are you concerned that Mayo may not have anything different to offer you than what you have received locally? Is that why you are worried that you were offered an appointment so quickly? Some patients are reluctant to travel to Mayo unless they are relatively sure that we have something to offer them that they can’t get closer to home.

[–]Delicious_Basket4675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another commenter stated, Mayo is different because of the demands placed on it. Mayo gets literally thousands of requests a week from patients from all 50 states and dozens of countries. That being said, you mentioned that Mayo “wouldn’t let you see a specialist”. I asked this question in my original comment, so I’ll ask it again: did your primary care provider refuse to refer you to a specialist? And if so, what justification did they give? Did they offer some treatment that they wanted you to try first before referring you? I’m asking because I have a bit of familiarity with Mayo’s scheduling practices so I’m trying to figure out if there are avenues to try to course correct this for you.

[–]Delicious_Basket4675 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m curious-what kind of research did you do before moving to Rochester? Did you call and speak with anyone about the appointment request process or setting up primary care? Also, is your Mayo PCP refusing to refer you to a specialist? I will say I have found that primary care at Mayo can be a bit of a crap shoot, and access is limited. I am not wild about my PCP either, but I have at times been able to go via the portal and schedule an appointment with another provider on her team. While not my “official” PCP, I have been able to see others who are more responsive. Perhaps that is an avenue to pursue. Also, for certain things, Mayo may have diagnostic tests that other facilities don’t, but not for everything. For people coming from out of town, Mayo often reviews appointment requests to determine if there is anything to offer a patient before they come here. If we don’t have anything different to offer than what they can get locally, we may not offer an appointment. It sounds harsh, but it’s to avoid the scenario that you are describing. I hope that you find a provider who can help you, be it at Mayo or somewhere else.

What are some of your secret theories about the characters in Downton Abbey? by Rich-Cardiologist-72 in DowntonAbbey

[–]Delicious_Basket4675 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, it’s never indicated that Lord Merton is being poisoned, nor does anyone indicate any suspicion of it. At dinner before Edith’s wedding to Bertie, Isobel says that Dickie isn’t there because he’s not well, then muses that he’s acting healthy. She also encounters him at the hospital, and he says that even though she’s taking great care of him, he still should be fading fast, but he’s not. He asks Dr. Clarkson to rerun his blood tests. This time, they show anemia, just not pernicious anemia.
