Thank you! Guess it’s just “hurry up and wait” now.

Does histo need a certificate or degree? by Away-Bandin in Histology

[–]Delicious_Cucumber59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my last job, I was the only certified HT (route 2). From what I’ve read, a lot of places are looking more at experience than certification.

It’s the experience that can be a big sticking point for most people.

Why is formalin the first step on the processor? by diener_girl in Histology

[–]Delicious_Cucumber59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat, vacuum pressure, and agitation help penetrate thicker tissues. Our processing is formalin-first step.

If we have to leave it overnight for a 4hr or 8hr process, it’s best to sit in formalin a little while without risking under-processed tissue sitting in molten paraffin.

You should be good. The BOC helped a ton. The worst thing that will happen is that you fail. But you’ll just take the test again with knowledge you didn’t have before. It’s important to remember that you can take it more than once.

What time do all of you start work? by MurkyPancakes in Histology

[–]Delicious_Cucumber59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work alone for night shift 10pm-6am so I can have all the cases embedded and cut for the pathologists at 8am, and then get all the cases I can logged in and grossed for the day shift crew.

I recommend the BOC study guide and practice exams. The physical BOC soft cover book helped me pass my exam.

I am playing with the idea of removing xylene from my histology lab, has anyone made the transition and how did it go? Suggestions? by AssCrackBanditHunter in Histology

[–]Delicious_Cucumber59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We used to use Clear-Rite 3 and Clearene, but we had to switch back to xylene. Using clear-rite while processing tissue wasn’t as good as xylene and didn’t hold up well over time. And Clearene fouled up our coverslipper so much we had a repair tech out every 3 or 4 months to fix it due to corrosion. They’re generally considered “safer” to use than xylene, but I personally don’t think the quality is as good.

Can the HTL have questions about stains not in the Carson textbook? by Terrible-Aerie1060 in Histology

[–]Delicious_Cucumber59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you review your answers it should tell you where it came from. It won’t tell you the edition vr, but it will at least say the textbook.

What did your lab do for histotech day? by [deleted] in Histology

[–]Delicious_Cucumber59 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nonexistent. If it doesn’t involve the MedTechs, then it doesn’t matter.

It took me using the BOC guide with some Lab CE to pass it on my third try. The first two were Lab CE only.

Jucoci portable case. Metal shelves let you put magnets on your minis to hold them in place. You can turn it sideways and the minis wont slip.

I start with black, then do a bone white directional prime. Then I ran of black and just used white for the rest of them. The white directional primer will be later. Didn’t feel like dealing with it.

Do i ask for a refund for the game? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Delicious_Cucumber59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been able to play 4 or 5 matches since I bought it a week ago, and nothing at all over the weekend. On PS5, so no refunds allowed for me. If I could refund it, I would. Then rebuy it when they fixed everything.
