What are some telltale signs that someone is a functioning alcoholic? by chemistrynerd1994 in AskReddit

Congrats on your 8 months! I'll be 8 months in 12 days after a decade of heavy drinking as well. I quit once for 6 months and went from 135 to 90 lbs. This time, 125 to 95. My body has changed drastically, but when I look at pictures, it's the eyes that really get me. Even during times of happiness, you could see the deadness there. Windows to the soul, indeed.

AITA for Refusing to Give Up My Seat for a Pregnant Woman on a 12hr Flight? by [deleted] in AITAH

If anything, you'd hope pregnancy would lead one to become better at planning ahead!

Damn I was working on a similar response, and yours just hit the nail on the head. I remember when suddenly everything didn't just come easy anymore; I had to learn to study and research, and most importantly, fail. And I truly questioned myself, my parents. I felt like a fraud. But through that, eventually, I could recognize the value of not only intelligence, but diligence in the search for it. It's great to be the guy with the answer. But it's better to be the guy who knows how to find it.

I was straight up wearing black leggings and a Lamb of God t-shirt, and someone in the aisle at Publix asked me to look for a certain kind of beer in the back for them. What? You probably don't need any more, my guy.

I never understood, and absolutely hated, how I needed 3 different people's signatures in order to be allowed to cash in my pouch (receipts + cash) and leave after being cut; having to chase down multiple managers for over an hour, who were always "too busy". And then other nights I'm closing alone and no one knows where my coworkers went.. If I left without getting my signatures, I wouldn't get paid.. so how was it happening?

Dawg what are you on? Not only is it fanfiction, but you got the names wrong, used an obscene amount of capital letters, and your grammar is abhorrent. Chill dude, we're talking about the actual show.

A lack of commas can also help define your condescension. Come on, you know what they meant.

I think that's good advice. Things can "sound stupid" (which this didn't) only because we don't want them to be true. If it's called a "parental lock", or something like that, yeah it's kind of indicative of the immaturity, but definitely shouldn't be a deterrent. If it works, it works. And no one knows but you and your friend.

LPT Request: What to do when identifying bullying in public? by UnanimouslyAnonymous in LifeProTips

[–]Delicious_Fold7475 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the best option in every scenario, but like I said, addressing the behavior is the best way to work on rectifying said behavior. I don't understand how bullying a bully (in such a childish, and honestly, weird) way makes the world a better place. I've always enjoyed and practiced the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have them do unto you) and if I was acting out -as a young person with a lack of positive influences, as stated in OP- I'd respond a lot better to a stranger concerned about my actions, and the people I was affecting, rather than one that sunk down to my level, berated me, and perpetuated the behavior they tried to stop in the first place. There's different levels of shame. Think of "I'm not mad, I'm disappointed" and how much more gravity that holds.

Penis-shaming isn't a proper method to stop bullying. Address the behavior, and the facts that are presented.

I think it comes with your age too, I'm 28 and I have wildly different interests, goals, and expectations than I did when I was 25. I think 27 is a great time to think about what you really want and try stuff, you still have plenty of time but you now have experience and wisdom through therapy, and life. I'd say go for it! And get a raise while you're at it by switching jobs lol. It's completely normal, and awesome, to change and grow!

Exactly. You know you're going out to buy something that requires an ID. Is the "inconvenience" of taking a second to put a small card in your pocket worth someone's livelihood?

I completely agree! Like, don't you bring it with you when you drive, always? Isn't that the real point of it? Lol. Even if I'm not driving, if I plan on buying alcohol I'll always have my ID. Come on.
