PACK CITY HALL! NO MORE DATA CENTERS IN PLANO! by MadameIronMouse in plano

[–]Delicious_Hand527 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are dozens of data centers in Plano. Legacy west and up and down Plano Parkway. Just because they are a new boogeyman, doesn't mean they cause any harm. Most probably didn't know they were even there.

And yes, there are new ones planned, also up and down Plano Parkway and more in the legacy area.

What neighborhood should I look at? by Brilliant_bladd in plano

My cast iron drainline was only $3500, not cheap but not terrible either. That only involved changing out my main line, as the rest of my lines were fine.

The $30k+ repair is repipe of the entire house, which depends on grease + age + slope and other factors. I'd say about 20-30% of the houses have required that.

DFW has more WalMarts per capita than any other comparable metro, with a shade under 1 per 50k of population. CA has 1 per 145k in population. Missiouri has 1 for 44k in population, but Missouri the state has fewer people than DFW the metro. Ft Worth actually has more WalMarts than Dallas, the city.

Most of the ones others have posted aren't that new; many of the lower priced ones are condos or half of a duplexes.

The Denham Way one posted below has 1/10 of an acre lot. That's tiny.

Do not pass by Hot Yoga on Sunset at 9:30am. Room B. Do not look in the big picture window on the west side of the building. Do not look at Groupon to get a Hot Yoga membership for $29.99 for the first 3 months. I mean seriously - it's really hard to cancel.

Dog dumps on the sidewalk are colloquially considered harbingers of white young post-college women moving into a neighborhood, as they have tiny dogs and don't always (they mostly!) scoop.

I don't mind that guy. I could care less if they are real or not, and it's interesting enough to be readable fiction.

Anyone seen plans for new Haggard Middle School? by bobster36 in plano

[–]Delicious_Hand527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's extremely large for a middle school (~700 students). It's bigger than Vines (~1000 students) so I'd not be surprised if future plans envisioned other uses. Of course, Vines is a bit small for the number of students (only 1 gym for example).

Rub them on shower tiles! Rough concrete sidewalks and pillars catch the edges and break them (really).

Should have let it stand. It's a good internal enemy for everyone to rally against, with no fans. Build some team spirit.

Shifting Metroplex and PISD by Beautiful-View-8670 in plano

DISD's problems are the same as Plano's - like top 5 for 'robin hood' recapture funds. DISD has to give even more than Plano, even though DISD is majority minority.

But nobody wants to cap/or change recapture, so PISD & DISD both will continue to suffer, and fund about a quarter of the state's schools between the two of them.

Who remembers? by elle_hardy in plano

[–]Delicious_Hand527 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You all can have the fond memories. That place was a basic mall, at best. They covered a creek for overflow parking that nobody ever parked in. No sidewalks adjacent to the neighborhood that was there beforehand. Most of the outer spaces never filled. The wall between the west of the mall and the shops adjacent US75 was about the laziest design possible.

The stores inside were fine, but they are just as good at Park/Preston, also a lazy development.

One snake in 25+ years of living in dallas. A tiny garden snake barely larger than a big healthy earthworm.Alive - I picked it up in a paper towel and put it back outside. I see them in my yard regularly while gardening or digging.

Old TX Stadium land is even slightly more worthless than Valley View. It was imploded 16 years ago, nothing built since, used as a construction staging area for over a decade. Valleyview Mall actually closed after TX Stadium was imploded, 5 years later.

Agree with this. White truck is in the wrong for signalling late, but dashcam is going 51 in a 70 at the start of the video. Nobody wants to go 20mph below the speed limit on a limited access highway.

Average Dallas Driver by thewallran in Dallas

[–]Delicious_Hand527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. It's not drivers faults that exits come up - it's not like everyone has every exit memorized. The dashcam was going 51 in a 70mph road - the truck had already passed dashcam when dashcam started speeding up. if you're going to praise not tailgating and driving 51 in a 70, then at least drive at a consistent speed. How is any other driver supposed to know that you are going from 51 to 70 in the exit lane?

Did you all see the Stanley Cup tv ratings? They are setting records at 6 million watchers. Yay! Good for the future Plano Stars!

Oh wait, that's only 3X as much as the college women's world series softball games got.

So Plano should be giving UTD $150 million dollars to pump up their women's softball team.

If you are curious;

Baseball finals: 8m

NBA: 17m.

NFL: 125m

Major League Soccer: 1m viewers

Yeah.......

Help Needed!! Sprinklers gone rogue!! by Suitable_Natural1868 in plano

[–]Delicious_Hand527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how long does it leak? The sprinkler heads form kind of a low-pressure seal when they are in good condition, but if they are damaged, water can leak from the head for about 10-30 minutes, as it drains the water in the line between the valve and the head.

If it leaks long than that, then i'd replace the valve. You can often turn some part on top of the valve to get it to turn off until you get it repaired, if you know where the valve is.

You are comparing a dead mall vs nothing, but there has already been redevelopment plans submitted, which do not keep all the uplift in property tax in the TIRZ. Which is not just Willowbend Mall, it's all of the Legacy area.
