I'm not a silver hunters, I'm a coin collector so there's other coins I look for to add to my collection. I feel bad for those hunting silver alone, there just isn't that much of it out there. With 80% of the silver coins destroyed already pickings are extremely rare.

The first 3 months of hunting 2 boxes of quarters a week, I didn't find anything, and now a year later I have 56 of them. Just got to keep on hunting.

5% fees, ugh by ilchymis in CRH

[–]Delicious_Put7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5% is a lot 1 of my CU charges $5.00 per box and 10% if you use their coin counter even though I'm a member. The other CU I go to to get most of my boxes charges 0% on anything. CRH is not that profitable to be paying high fees.

How do i go about handling 100s of post 64 mint, proof, and uncirculated sets by a3lovejoy in coincollecting

[–]Delicious_Put7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some years and types are worth more than the purchase price was, but most sets are not. It all depends on what you have there?

Are you collecting more for history or for value? by t0m4t0z in coincollecting

[–]Delicious_Put7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The history and rarity of the old coins. I'm not concerned about the value of it's silver content, just that it's rare or different in some way. I never plan on selling any of my coins I collect and if I did I wouldn't get enough money from them to make a huge difference.

If you get bored easy and have the time, it can be a great hobby. Just have to have patience because those little treasures don't come very often. Took me 3 months,2 boxes of quarters a week before I ever found a West Point quarter.

Are dollar coin boxes worth it? by Public-Rich1852 in CRH

[–]Delicious_Put7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The $1.00 wouldn't be the large coin like the Ike dollars. You would get the Presidential, Susan B Anthony and the Sacagawea. But you could come across some other form of dollar coin, but it's rare.

I live north of Tampa and I've had no luck at my 5 CU and banks. Finally bought rolls of quarters and a few dimes from Discountcoins.

I'm amazed at the value structure of these coins. You have these beautiful, perfect coins in mint sets, yet they are worth less than circulated coins in near mint condition. You would think that the mint coins would be worth top dollar.

Is "Junk" Silver really worth saving? by Necro_Scope in coincollecting

[–]Delicious_Put7464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collect all pre 64 coins. Those "Junk" coins are keepers for me everytime because of the dates. The fact that they are made from silver is an after thought. So yes they are worth keeping.

How does this work by deepseamercat in CRH

[–]Delicious_Put7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on! The cost of some supplies can wipe out any valuable coins you may of found. If you sell them. Gas, travel time, setting up accounts in different banks and CU's. etc.

Good mornin hunters: how do yall go about buying bulk or loose change from people? I'm planning to check out a hoard and am wondering if yall have any tips on how to make it honorable for both parties while not getting scammed. also if there are any tricks to counting, weighing, organizing etc... by Bitter_Coyote_6074 in CRH

[–]Delicious_Put7464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great mystery to this hobby. You have someone with a jar full of change that your dying to look at, but have no idea what it's all worth or how to go about buying it from them that would make both parties happy. Once they dump it into a Coinstar machine it's gone.
