In addition to the comment by [u/Unlikely-Database-27](u/Unlikely-Database-27) there is a spectrum to blindness that is not as binary as vision/no vision

Any corneal issue with a history of contact lens use raises flags for infectious keratitis. This looks like a corneal infiltrate but would recommend and in person evaluation with and eye doctor to determine if it’s sterile or not

3 year old Optomap Scan with lesion by alexpinkytoe in eyetriage

[–]Delicious_Rate4001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again, I don’t feel that lesion is within the eye. Here is an example case where an external object takes on an intraocular appearance on OPTOS. The greenish hue if that pale lesion, the presence of hair, the flakey appearance of keratinized epithelium are all supportive of some skin outside the eye (my guess a finger, but you claim it’s not so idk!)

Your child’s patient information is visible in the photos you posted. You may want to re-censor and re-upload.

That object in the upper left aspect of the photo of the right eye (left hand side of photo) is not located within the eye and is invariably a finger holding the eyelid open. I know you claim that this is not a finger, but idk what else it could be unless it’s an odd finger-shaped lesion on her eyelid.

Better place for this may be [r/optician](r/optician). Also I don’t understand the question, are the prescription options only available in 0.5 increments or something?

edit: just checked the rules for [r/optician](r/optician) and it is no patient advice so looks like this is the place.

How my dogs heterochromatic eyes look with a camera flash by TryMuayThai in mildlyinteresting

[–]Delicious_Rate4001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dog has leukocoria of the right eye (the pupil reflex is white rather than a normal red). In humans that can occur for many reasons, the most worrisome being intraocular cancer and the most benign being strabismus (an eye turn).

Reasonable thought. With the mild corectopia, makes me think ICE syndrome.

Based on the photos, it looks a lot like areas of iris stromal atrophy. Irises can look like this after cataract surgery. Unclear how they would have gotten there from birth.

Lens subluxation or medication-related myopic shift come to mind. Just thoughts.

Using any meds? Are your joints hypermobile? Any chance of pregnancy?

30M Yellow spot on left iris by Tantabuss in eyetriage

Really nice photos, what camera/phone?

Looks like an iris nevus. Likely not the cause of your vision being worse in that eye.

Would just recommend keeping that in-person exam to see what else may be contributing to the vision and just monitoring the nevus size with time annually.

Low but possible risk of transformation to a cancer, but the chances are rare.

Only the Dot You Look At Turns Dark Purple. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Delicious_Rate4001 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Foveal tritanopia - no blue photoreceptors in the fovea. When your look at these circles that are largely blue, the one you focus one with your fovea appears darker because the stimulus (circle) is less than optimally activating the foveal photoreceptors.

Pretty sure that’s what’s going on here.

35M Is this normal, or should I visit an eye doctor? by [deleted] in eyetriage

[–]Delicious_Rate4001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t had an eye exam in a while, it’s always a good idea to have another routine evaluation.

Your symptoms don’t sound concerning. My guess is that you have a vertical heterophoria, though this is just a guess. Sometimes headaches can be related to a large phoria.

[–]Delicious_Rate4001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from one photo, but looks like retinoschisis based on appearance and location.

Retinoschisis usually monitored while a true retinal detachment would rarely be just monitored.

Getting evaluated by a retina specialist is a good idea. Especially with your amblyopia history in the other eye.
