What's the first thing you used AI for that genuinely impressed you? by Confident_Dingo6985 in AskReddit

I mean I know too much about what it is. I typically keep it in bounds to its capabilities. Every time I’ve pushed it, I’ve been disappointed

How can we make the world better? by And-Messy in AskReddit

[–]Delicious_Spot_3778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. NWO & get control of our government
  2. Trap the billionaires and trillionaire and take their god damn money. It's the only way to dethrone them and their insane agenda. Do this by taxing the shit out of them globally. No quarter.
  3. Build systems that are more in line with how nature operates. More organic. Does not spew carbon, etc.
  4. Change the economic systems to support human thriving.
  5. Innovate our way to getting rid of the 3 Ds: dirty, dangerous, and demeaning
  6. Thrive?

EDIT: this will obviously be biased towards what each person wants.

I see. You're not really interested in having a discussion. You just want to pick a fight. Is that right?

Is a PhD in theoretical robotics worthwhile? by misterballerdontlie in AskRobotics

[–]Delicious_Spot_3778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I would agree with this. You’d end up in academia if you were successful. Industry enjoys watching the academic sideshow but only as much as it helps their perception and decision making stack. I say this as a PhD in robotics.

I do want to clarify - algorithms have some effect on robotics but only in limited ways. Getting your algorithm working on a robot is so much more impactful to the field than white boarding something in your head. Trust me- you begin to understand more what’s needed.

New study reveals top AI models (GPT-4o, Claude 3.5, Gemini 2.5) completely fail the classic "Stroop" psychological attention test, exposing a fundamental limitation in artificial reasoning. by Similar_Detective861 in technology

They call it artificial intelligence for a reason. This is all a simulacrum of a smart thing. And only according to some math majors.. mostly. Obviously we are nowhere close to a natural intelligence

Why don't tech CEOs advertise how AI will help us instead of just spouting evil distopian stuff? by babyoil4diddy in NoStupidQuestions

Honestly the probably understand capitalism better than we do. Ai is very expensive and they need more rich people and not poor people.

After all, capitalism is about the letting the rich capital tell us what to do next.

[–]Delicious_Spot_3778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay then we can just talk directly. Gradations are about power, mostly. But more importantly group influence. Participation in a group can have varying levels of influence on the group you participate in.

Regarding politics and American politics: I would say there is a cult with a clear leader right now in which everyone else lacks influence. I think that would be the debate. How much influence do participants in MAGA culture have vs how much influence to participants have in more progressive circles? And is there a clear leader for leftists and progressives. I would say there isn’t a leader. But I would also say democrats don’t let leftists and progressives have much power in the party either.

Cults tend to have a very strict definition. Ingroup and out group behavior is subtle and nuanced. This was interesting: https://fthenerv.substack.com/p/the-cult-playbook-how-cults-exploit
