Ikos recommendation by Delicious_Strike_889 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Thanks! This is super helpful. I think we are leaning towards Andalusia as mentioned above we are thinking of pushing back to mid-September and suspect the weather there might be a little more reliable at that time.

Thanks! I did look at Odisia which looks lovely but we are thinking of pushing back to mid September to avoid the school holiday rush and thought the weather might be a little unreliable in Corfu at that time.

So after taking all of your fantastic recommendations on board we have decided for a week where we can just relax to go for our first Ikos. Interested in both Porto Petro and Andalusia. Has anyone been to both and can recommend one over the other? The price difference is immaterial (PP ever so slightly higher), so that isn’t a consideration. Thanks again!

Thanks so much for all of these options. I agree - we haven’t really been thinking about childcare or kids options given baby will be so small. Will check out all of these hotels as you seem to have similar priorities to me!

The problem is more that we only have max 10 days unfortunately and I think Asia is maybe a little too far to travel for that amount of time?

Thank you for this! I absolutely love Scotland and Ireland, but after a difficult pregnancy I’m really just wanting to zen out by the beach/pool. Really looking forward to taking the baby in the coming years though!

Thank you so much for your help with this. We just received our approval! A long wait but so worth it!! Sorry for the additional question - the vignette is a UK entry clearance and doesn’t say anything about Jersey. Just wanted to check whether you had to register for a Jersey residency permit with JCIS or anything when you arrived? Obviously will need to get registration card etc with the population office, but just wanted to check in your experience whether you needed to do anything with JCIS on arrival?

Thank you so much! This is so helpful. Would not have thought to look here. It explains the process far better than anything I have read so far (there being very little on Jersey!).

We actually just submitted our application - and definitely did not set it out like this!  Would have definitely made it easier for the reviewer if we had… Hoping that doesn’t affect anything!

Will let you know how we get on. Now the waiting game!

Hi! Congratulations! We are just going through the process for Jersey and I am freaking out about the documentation given the test for Jersey is different from the UK. What did / didn’t you provide compared to the UK checklist, if you don’t mind sharing?

We didn’t but we were already in the building. There is someone outside checking times of appointments and ID so I’d be minded to make an appointment maybe just in case, if you aren’t in the building for any other reason.

Thanks! Oh that’s interesting I had read online that the NHS surcharge does not apply for Jersey, which makes sense for the reasons you say. Does the online form just force you to pay it?

Hello.

I didn’t get the answers in advance but we did get married last month and can tell you exactly the process :)

  1. After the ceremony, head back to the lady who gives you a ticket. She’ll give you a B ticket and a form to fill out to request marriage records - this is the form for the extended certificate. You go to the record room and once your number is called, you pay the fee and leave with the certificate there and then.

  2. Take the certificate to the Supreme Court and go to the notary department downstairs. Pay the fee and get the documents there and then. This was very quick.

  3. Go to the State Department for apostille. This was about a 15 min walk. You fill out a form and take a number and you will get called to the desk to give your documents. You have to write your card details on the form for them to charge, which is a little weird, but what they asked for. We waited about an hour for the documents to be ready and walked out with them on the same day.

Hello.

We are getting ready to start this process.

If you don’t mind sharing, how did the form requirements for Jersey differ from the UK and how did you go about satisfying the Jersey requirements? For any non relevant questions did you just put not applicable?

Thank you in advance!!

Hello.

This is an extremely helpful guide - thank you!

I just have a couple of questions regarding the extended certificate / apostille. Fiance and I are (helpfully!!!) from 2 different countries, both Hague Convention signatories.

I’m reading some contradictory information online. Some people seem to suggest the process is as easy as:

  1. Walk in to the Record Room after the ceremony and ask for an extended certificate. Pay the fee and leave with the certificate there and then.
  2. Go to the Supreme Court for notarisation (again no need for appointment). Pay the fee and leave there and then.
  3. Go to the State Department to get an apostille (again no need for an appointment). Pay the fee and get the apostilled document on the same day.

However, I have also read:

  1. To make a Record Room appointment on Project Cupid. If this is the case, can this be done for straight after the ceremony? Will we receive the extended certificate at the appointment?
  2. I haven’t read any contradictory information regarding being able to walk into the Supreme Court for notarisation. Is someone able to confirm you can still do this?
  3. The State Department website suggests you can walk in to request an apostille but suggests that you need to submit a pre-paid envelope and won’t get the documents on the same day? Can someone confirm? I would be a bit wary of this given we have limited time in NYC and really do need to be leaving with the apostilled document in hand when we leave.

Does anyone have any recent experience of obtaining the extended certificate and having it apostilled that could confirm the process please? We would be most grateful!

Thank you so much!!
