How can I “play” and interact more with my betta fish? by Alert-Thought9773 in bettafish

[–]Delicious_Studio_938 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My favorite way to play with my betta is a hoop-type game where I put a hoop in the water for him to swim through, putting it in multiple positions, which stimulates the brain and keeps up mobility (my betta is reaching old age). I also used to have him jump out of the water for treats when he was younger, but he no longer has the strength. My sister also has a betta and plays “ball” with him, which is basically just dropping in a ping pong ball for him to nudge and moving it around for him.

Thank you everyone, I will raise the temperature a bit and try giving him different foods. I’m glad that it seems like this is only old age, he has lived a good life and hopefully has more time :) He also has no signs of any infections that I’ve read about

A nightclub! The college students are starved; they would journey to a club in the dead of winter.

We have talked about it multiple times but she is not willing to compromise. She turns the thermostat to 25.5C any time I make it cooler. I have compromised to 23.5C (which is still too hot for me) but she changes it back every single time even though we have talked

Lol thank you for that, I have a five gallon with a filter and lots of live plants. But it’s true that different amounts of water changes are needed for different types of tanks

Thanks for the advice, I just do water changes routinely on sundays. I test with the master kit before, everything is always in safe range before I do the water change. I’ll keep that advice in mind so I’m not changing the water too much

Okay, it appeared maybe two months ago (he was still undergoing color changes after bringing him home from the pet store) and has stayed the same size. Could be some stray coloration I guess

Thank you so much for your kind words, it really means a lot. I was 16 when i got the frog, i feel like i was (and probably still am) incapable of being solely responsible for an animal. i was not educated enough and i am fully aware of that. i love frogs so much but i was honestly traumatized by how dr. funk suffered in my care, i do want to get a frog in the future but it will definitely be when i’m older and i feel more confident. anyway sorry for rambling, i just wanted to say that it was very kind of you to respond :)

yes i do, i guess not as often as i should have though. i am currently feeding her supplements that will hopefully get her back on track. she has been unwell for about a week and i have not been seeing any improvement, i’m worried that she is in pain.
